Artist Statement:
“Through the art of photography, I attempt to shed light on our complex world by presenting a simplified and restricted view of a subject. My work is commentary. Nothing is moved or removed, only emphasized by zooming in on detail, thus divulging the essence of the images. I attempt to bring the viewer into the very creases by isolating the subject, cropping away any distractions.

I view the world through the lens of the camera, even when I am not carrying one. I work spontaneously and instinctively with no preconceived ideas or hidden agendas. Composing and cropping as I shoot is quick and automatic. In many cases I take only one shot of a particular subject.

I use a telephoto lens and move in as close as possible in order to photograph parts of places and things. When people are the subjects, I always use a zoom lens so that nothing is disturbed or altered by my presence with the camera. Most often the individuals are not aware that they are being “captured” on film. I shoot them as I see them to tell it like it is.”

THIS SATURDAY, July 6th join us for our first annual boon signing event!

We are proud to feature author Randie K. Berman and her brand new book “A Different Sky”.

Randie will be signing her books right outside Bet sure to stop in and explore our collection from over different artists from all over the world.

Book Description:
“In the summer of 1973, on 20-year-old Rachel’s last college break before graduation, she travels to Israel while figuring out what to do with the rest of her life. Little does she know that the trip will change everything. On Haifa’s idyllic, pristine beach, she meets Nir, a self-assured, smooth-talking Israeli soldier, an unexpected encounter that lasts only 24 hours but is unforgettable. Rachel and Nir form an undeniable bond that neither time nor distance can break. As their relationship deepens, a stunning discovery forces Rachel to choose between the man she loves and her tightly-knit family, upon whom she’s increasingly relied since the tragic death of her father. Rachel’s faith, career, and loyalties will be tested as the consequences of her decision unfold. Will she brave these challenges and undergo transformation? Or will she buckle under the pressure?

A Different Sky is the story of one woman’s struggle with generational and cultural stereotypes during the 1970s, but it spotlights all women who challenge the status quo and are willing to sacrifice for others to their own detriment. This novel is told through the lens of someone committed to deep family ties and a strong belief in oneself. Rachel is a powerful heroine whose character and strength shine through on every page.”

We are thrilled to welcome new artist Catherine Bohrman to ❤️

“I have been drawn to form with lines that flow. Shes love/need to work/create with my hands. I delight in learning not only how to make things but what quality workmanship is. After studying mechanical engineering and art at Stanford University I channeled my artistic energies and strength into carving stone. I then started hand casting my work into bronze sculpture and now luminous glass. I use 3-D scanning and computer technology to facilitate the laborious centuries-old process of enlarging sculpture from small maquettes to monumental sizes. I love size. I love how a sculpture, no matter how small, can have such presence in a space and can artistically grow if enlarged; filing space, casting more shadows, letting more light pass through it’s spaces.”

New from artist Catherine Bohrman “Lithe”. Made of cast glass on a granite base, this darling piece measures 14” h x 6” w x 4” d.

You can find “Lithe” from Catherine Bohrman now on view and available for purchase only
