Follow the yellow brick road to Stephanie Jaffe’s “Dorothy”. 💛

Inspired by the enchanted talking apple trees in The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy pauses beneath an apple tree to enjoy an apple while reading Grimm’s Snow White. But the apple is just the beginning.

Throughout history, apples have played fascinating roles in literature, mythology, science, and folklore. From Isaac Newton to William Tell and the Judgment of Paris, I’ve tucked these stories throughout the artwork, using vintage ceramic figurines reading miniature books. And, as always, the magic is in the details.

Buttons, beads, glass millefiori, and vintage porcelain come together in a layered, three-dimensional composition. Each ceramic figurine is carefully cut and positioned to become part of the story. From tiny vintage ceramic readers to millefiori glass, intricate beadwork, and Dorothy’s ruby slippers, There are so many little surprises to discover.

New from photographer Mario Basner “The Trinity College Library”.

The library of Trinity College Dublin is the main library that serves Trinity College and is the largest library in Ireland. It consists of the Old Library which was built in the 18th century and features “The Long Room” which is one of the most iconic landmarks of the library and university.

The Trinity College Library houses numerous Irish artifacts and documents including the 8th Century Manuscript, The Book of Kells which arrived to the library in 1661.
