On Tuesday night, the Grayson County Fair was honored to be named the nonprofit recipient of the Grayson County Farm to Fork grant.
Every dollar of this funding will go toward bringing livestock back to our fairgrounds. The county fair may be known for rides, funnel cakes, and pageants, but at its heart, it’s always been about agriculture, youth, and community.
During Sensory Friendly Day, approximately 160 guests had the opportunity to experience livestock up close in our newly revitalized Livestock Barn thanks to Newton Farms and The Farm at Rough River.
Then, on Saturday, we welcomed 10 exhibitors and 12 animals, representing sheep, goats, beef cattle, pigs, and dairy cattle. We were able to award Herdsman Awards to those with the best decorated stalls.
🏆 Livestock Herdsman Award Winners

2nd: Emmary & Kenton Burnett
3rd: Reagan Coffey
These young people are the true recipients of this grant. It was always about them and the generations who will follow.
It had been decades since livestock had a place at the Grayson County Fair. Our hope is that this is only the beginning, and that one day local youth will once again raise an animal, show it before their own community, and have the opportunity to represent Grayson County at the Kentucky State Fair.
To quote our FFA and 4H friends…
We believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words, but of deeds. We also believe in our country, our state, and our community, and in our responsibility for their development. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. We are excited to get back to where we started and bring the next generation along with us.
