Mike surprised me. He watched Jackson and took him for his afternoon walk today. That gave me some afternoon time to paint! It was a nice surprise.

I couldn't paint Sam without doing Patsy.

They were rescued together.

Sam is Patsy's rock and is always by her side.

Patsy is an anxious little chicken.

I'm pretty sure if you asked her what her name is she'd say very excitedly, in a high voice, "my name is Patsy!" Then she'd run as fast as she can.

We adore her and are so grateful she survived, has her best friend Sam and found her way to sanctuary.

I'm grateful for the rain this morning because it helped me get to my painting table. That's something I've been craving for what feels like forever now.

It has been forever actually. It's been almost a year since I've played with my paints.

This is Sam. She is one of my loves who came to our sanctuary, Mother Clucker's Microsanctuary, last year. Sam, her friends and other farmed animals were locked away and left to die after a renter moved off of a property in Michigan. The owner of the property found the animals 2-3 weeks later. Some did not survive, but Sam and her sister Patsy did. Sam and Patsy now live their lives in sanctuary with us. Nothing is ever wanted from them except for them to be safe, happy and healthy.

They will live out their lives being respected and loved and they will never be locked away to be forgotten about again.

A few weeks ago I went to order another pack of the vegan bamboo felt, that I've been using to make Rainbow Chickens with, but Amazon didn't have it listed anymore.

So I reached out to the small business directly, to see if they had any left they could sell me.

They had 1 pack left.

Of course I bought it.

The woman who runs the business was so nice and we talked a bit through emails.

I told her I was making Rainbow Chickens to help make money for the rescue chickens at my microsanctuary.

She loved that and said she always enjoys knowing what customers are creating. She said the story of the sanctuary is her favorite she's heard so far.

I received my order and she even included a couple of extra pieces.

Then I received this box with a hand written card. Yes. Hand written.

She was cleaning out her studio and thought of the chickens, and me, when she was cleaning out her scrap bin of bamboo felt from projects she had done. She said she thought I could put it to good use and help raise money for the chickens.

I just thought that was the kindest, most thoughtful sweetest thing.

She truly made my day feel special.

I doubt a large corporation would have communicated with me the way she has, or would have been thoughtful or would have ever gone out of their way to send me scraps to create with.

I keep thinking about smaller businesses and artists.

I think it so important to support them.

Everytime I've sold a Rainbow Chicken, I've gotten so excited! Like over the moon!

I've sold only 2 of my prints, but for each one I was so grateful and did a cheer. Like pom poms and all!

I doubt people running corporations pull out cheers and pom poms when they make a sale, or gives two diddley squats about what you're doing with their product.

But do you know who does?

Artists and small businesses.

Support them.

I promise that when you do you make their whole day.

If I had ordered from some corporate office, I doubt I would have been treated with the kindness, and thoughtfulness, that this small business owner treated me with.

The title of each piece is listed under each photo.

Orders will be shipped within 1-3 business days.

Each image is printed on 100 # acid free cardstock. Each image has a border that makes matting and framing simple. Images that are square have a larger border around the edge.

Prints are packaged inside of a crystal clear protective art sleeve, with a 4 ply backing board. Each print is well protected, until they are ready to be framed.

All sales help support the rescue animals in my care, at Mother Clucker's Microsanctuary.

Sanctuaries and rescues, who have given me permission to be inspired by their rescue animal photos, receive a 10% donation from the sales of their animal inspired print. The cost of shipping is not included in the donation.

We care for two feral cats.

Boone, who has been with us for over 2.5 years and Maci, who has been with us for 6 months.

Maci has recently crossed the feral line and is comfortable with us petting her.

Boone is most comfortable if there's a little bit of distance between us. Hopefully he'll cross that feral line one day.

Although this is not art, as in a painting on canvas, I thought I would share my recent painting project.

A sanctuary friend reached out a couple of weeks ago and donated a repurposed playhouse to our sanctuary, Mother Clucker's Microsanctuary.

I was so excited, and grateful, because I knew I could use it for Boone and Maci and make them a Cat Clubhouse.

It's been a really fun creative project!

Today I finally finished it.

Boone and Maci both went through TNR (Trap. Neuter. Return).

If you have a feral(s) in your area, please contact your local TNR organization. When they are returned to you feed them, offer them shelter, watch over them and love them with all of your heart.

The life of a feral isn't an easy one, but YOU can make their lives a whole lot better simply by being there for them. ❤

Sometimes it's tough for me to make the time to paint, with the rescues in my care.

The kids here at Mother Clucker's Microsanctuary keep me busy!

I was able to make the time this morning though.

I can't decide if she's done or not yet.

Her name is Minnie and she was rescued by FurEver Friends.

She was adopted ❤

Minnie is a reminder to spay/neuter and to always adopt, never shop.

Minnie is also a reminder to support your local reputable cat rescues.
