So… what IS Bone Acres? 🎃
We know our name doesn’t exactly describe what we do, so we get asked this a lot.
I’m Brooke, and my husband Harley and I started Bone Acres in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. We started with a wagon of pumpkins, mostly as a way to give people something else to think about for a little while. We also wanted our kids, Oakley and Jeremiah, to learn the value of a dollar and what it means to work for something.
We had no idea what it would become.
Over the years, Bone Acres has grown into something we’re really passionate about. For us, it’s become a way to step away from our demanding careers and spend some much-needed time together as a family. There’s something about spending hours planting and harvesting pumpkins that makes you slow down… and apparently makes for some pretty deep conversations. 😂
About the name...
Harley’s dad, now well retired, had a truck-driving handle: Chicken Bone. So, no, the name has nothing to do with pumpkins. It’s just a little piece of our family that we wanted to carry forward.
You may even find Chicken Bone driving the hayride when you visit. So you know he’s got the credentials for that thing. 😉
So what is Bone Acres?
It’s pumpkins, hayrides, corn mazes, apple cannons, farm animals, sunflowers, good food and fall fun. But to us, it’s also family, hard work, slowing down and making memories together.
And we’d love for your family to make some memories here, too. 🧡
