Nate’s Hope Scrubby

Nate’s Hope Scrubby My name is Applis McGrady I created Nate’s Hope Scrubby after my son was in a horrific accident 03/14/2026. He is currently in an acute care facility.

It will take years of therapy. Him and his new bride are expecting their first baby in November.

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

This verse has continued to speak to my heart throughout this journey. In the midst of uncertainty, the Lord has been my strength and has given me a peace that can only come from Him.

I’m grateful to share an update on Nathan. On June 16, we were med-flighted up north, where he has continued his rehabilitation. When he arrived, Nathan was non-verbal, in a vegetative state, and dependent on a feeding tube. Today, we are incredibly thankful for his progress. He is eating regular food with assistance and is speaking at times. He can respond to questions with “yes,” “no,” and “possibly,” and some of his unexpected responses even bring moments of humor and encouragement. They continue to cast Nate Charette right leg and left arm so he can gain more mobility!

Our tentative discharge date is September 10. We are praying that Nathan will then transfer down south to another neurorehabilitation facility, where he can continue working toward greater independence. He may require another 100–200 days of care, but we are taking each day as it comes and trusting God with the outcome.

We continue to believe that God has no limits on what He can do in Nathan’s life. I will not allow limitations to define his future. God is in control, and we will continue to trust Him every step of the way.

Please Keep Us in Prayer

Please pray for:

* Nathan’s continued healing and recovery
* His salvation and relationship with the Lord
* The return of the prodigal son to Christ
* Skyler and baby Ayanna
* Wisdom and guidance for every medical decision
* Strength and peace for me
* Provision for Nathan’s ongoing medical and rehabilitation needs

Thank you for your continued prayers, encouragement, and financial support. Every act of kindness has been a tremendous blessing to our family, and we are deeply grateful.

I may not know what the future holds, but I know who holds Nathan’s future. I am choosing to be still, trust His timing, and rest in His faithfulness.

May the Lord richly bless you and your families.

🚨 URGENT PSA FROM THE ALBANY RESCUE MISSION 🚨

Today, we're asking our community to stand with us in a very real and urgent way.

The Albany Rescue Mission is the only homeless shelter in our area that does not receive government funding. Every meal we serve, every bed we provide, every life we help restore is made possible through the generosity of individuals, churches, businesses, and community partners who believe in our mission.

Today, we are facing a critical financial need.

Without immediate support, our operating funds are reaching a level that will make it difficult to continue providing the care and services so many men, women, and families depend on every day.

This is not a message we ever wanted to write, but we believe in being transparent with the community that has faithfully supported us through the years.

If God lays it on your heart, would you prayerfully consider making a donation today? No gift is too small. Every dollar helps provide meals, shelter, clothing, counseling, and the hope of Christ to those who have nowhere else to turn.

If you're unable to give financially, please help us by:
❤️ Praying for God's provision.
📢 Sharing this post so it reaches others.
🤝 Connecting us with individuals, businesses, or churches that may be able to help.

We have seen God provide time and time again, and we trust that He will do it again through His people.

Thank you for believing in the mission and in the lives that are being transformed every day.

Donations can be mailed to:
Albany Rescue Mission
604 N. Monroe St.
Albany, GA 31701

Or you can give through our online donation options; cash donations are always welcome.

"And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:19

Short update on Nathan he is still at the hospital. He is doing fine. My only concern is that the day after his surgery he was talking and being a little bit sassy. As of today four days later he’s still eating good but he is extremely tired and he is almost totally nonverbal. You see his mouth moving, but there is absolutely no sound coming out so I don’t know if it’s that he doesn’t like being here and he’s like wondering where he’s at and why he’s here or if it’s just a little setback and we might have to start all over but either way prayers are appreciated healthwise he’s doing good. It’s just the other part that I’m a little concerned with, not worried because I know that God is in control of everything. His hands have been all over this from the very beginning, but just continued prayers that we will be still and know that he is God and not fall into fear like Satan wants us to. Thank you again for all of your support!

Amen!!!

Our Albany Rescue Mission family is asking all believers to join us in prayer and fasting for Nate, the grandson of our Founder.

Nate was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident and has a long road to recovery. On Monday, July 27, he will undergo surgery to have his brain flap replaced. We are believing God for His healing hand, His peace, and His protection over every doctor, nurse, and caregiver involved.

We are asking everyone who is willing to begin praying and fasting starting Friday, July 24, leading up to his surgery. Your fast doesn't have to be a water fast. It can be giving up a meal, social media, sweets, coffee, or anything you choose to lay before the Lord as an act of faith and dependence on Him.

The Bible reminds us in James 5:16, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." We know there is incredible power when God's people unite in prayer.

Please join us in lifting Nate before the Lord. Pray for complete healing, wisdom for his medical team, strength for his family, and that God would be glorified through every step of this journey.

Thank you for standing with us in faith. ❤️

One week and counting! They have increased Nate’s fluids and it is seeming to help with the sunken flap syndrome. He is eating a little but really just wants to sleep. He will stay in the hospital 3-4 days to make sure all is well and the drains come out. Then he will come back here. We don’t know what that is going to look like. It could be 2 weeks could be 4. Bottom line it is not safe to return Nate home at the level of care he is needing now. We can’t do this alone! We need your prayers and if you feel lead to help financially what a blessing it would be. All of you that have sent money for me to stay thank you from the bottom of my heart!! ❤️ We still will need help with his medical equipment, the portion insurance will not cover. They say they don’t cover the shower system we will need. there is a tub and this system allows us to put him in the chair and push on a rail system over the tub to shower. Also his lift, they do have a manual but electric would be easier on me and Skyler! Especially after the baby is born!!

Update on Nate The 27th can't come soon enough. The pressures are really starting to affect him and his brain. The 27th he gets a 3D printed bone flap put on. His neuro storming has been extremely bad lately and is becoming an everyday occurrence. He's starting to not score as high on his assessments and kind of going backwards. His white cell count is up currently, and they will be taking him for X-rays today at 330. We don't need anything more to occur that could jeopardize him getting this flap put on. Please say a prayer for him!!!
