Come out this Friday & Saturday to meet Sari Nordlund in person! We’ll have samples from her new book, Foundations, and you can mix & mingle with one of the most popular designers currently working in the industry!
Here’s the schedule:
Friday, October 9th
- 2-5pm: Join Sari and the Unwind Team in the shop for a special Book Signing Meet & Greet!

Saturday, October 10th
- 10a-Noon: We’ll host a second book signing event for those unable to make it on Friday.
- Noon-1on: Hear Sari’s inspiration for the designs in Foundations during a brief presentation in the shop
- 2pm-4pm: Social Making Time with Sari; hang out around our community table and help Sari get to know the fabulous makers of KC during this informal gathering.

All events are free and open to the public—and if you purchase a copy of Foundations this week, we’ll enter your name into the drawing for dinner with Sari Friday night!

Fall arrived this week, bringing the vibes—the last of the tomatoes are hanging on the vines; there’s a hint of gold peeking through the trees; the days are shorter and blessedly cooler. It’s time for the ritual fall closet flip, which includes breaking out transitional pieces like my new Sea Foam Tee from Joji Locatelli. It knits up quickly in La Bien Aimée Alix and Soyeux held together; I made mine in autumn-perfect Tidal Sands.

Worn alone or polished under a blazer, Sea Foam is the piece you’ll reach for on repeat throughout the season.

Oh, it was also time for my other fall ritual—I cut my hair!

Come to Unwind OCTOBER 9th & 10th to meet Sari Nordlund!
(Please note these are corrected dates from what was announced during the KC Yarn Crawl.)

Here’s the schedule:

• Friday, October 9th, 2-5pm: Join Sari and the Unwind Team in the shop for a special Book Signing Meet & Greet! We’ll have copies of all of Sari’s books available for purchase and signing, including her latest, Foundations, a collection of 20 beautifully crafted accessory patterns,
including hats, shawls, mittens, and socks. Wear your Sari FOs, enjoy a few snacks, ask about her designs, and generally mix & mingle with one of the most
popular designers currently working in the industry.

• Saturday, October 10th, 10a-Noon: We’ll host a second book signing event for those unable to make it on Friday.

Thelma & Louise are back for another spooky season! And of course they brought their re:Designed Project bags….

This year, the ladies agreed to model a few of the shawls from Jay Peters Stephen West MKAL collection; Jay recently completed all the shawls from previous years, and has graciously loaned them to us to kickoff the Westknits 2026 MKAL. Hurry in to see Jay’s incredible artistry and to choose your project yarn for this year’s MKAL—we have just a few of our bespoke Stonewater & Prairie kits remaining but we still have full skeins available to help you create the mystery of your dreams!
