With Tropical Storm Isaias bearing down on Alabama and the Gulf Coast this weekend I figured I would gather some of our favorite rainy wedding day photos from the last dozen years. There are some great throwbacks in there!

We’ve had Dads in all shapes and sizes and there’s not a thing in the world any of them wouldn’t have done for the son or daughter on their wedding day, and Izzy’s dad Patrick is no different.

When his Grandsons, the Ring Bearers and Izzy’s nephews, couldn’t hang through the ceremony on stage he whipped in as if he has done this before (wink wink.)

There’s never a bad time for a set of giggles mid-ceremony. Our favorite things besides the obvious in pic 1? Izzy’s smile in the background and the young man in the bottom left doing a well timed face palm.

This is exactly the kind of detail we love about wedding planning; the little things that are done intentionally for a reason, even if guests never realize why.

There’s a reason we do the giving of the bride from the lower step.

Having Tripp step forward to help Gracie up gives us this beautiful, intimate side angle that you don’t see in every ceremony gallery and somehow makes the moment feel even more romantic. It’s the kind of little logistical decision that takes about five seconds on wedding day but can create a photograph you’ll have forever.

BBJ LaTavola Linens have a new line just in time for fall called Heritage House. This one, called Briarwood Juniper, caught my attention immediately. It’s an off white block print on deep olive that borders on forest green, and is begging to decorate a table or ten at your event. It can be dressed up and elevated or dressed down to casual, we can’t wait to see how our couples use it!

Friday night was our first true taste of Fall and we were delighted to host Makenzie + Kyle’s Rehearsal Dinner on the back patio, underneath the string lights and we had even more fun celebrating them yesterday for their wedding and reception.

If you’re expecting a large guest count at your reception a cocktail display can help alleviate the rush of that first few minutes when everyone wants a drink at the same time.

Of course this only works for drinks that can be premixed, in this case Tyler’s specialty drink was a Transfusion and Kayla’s was a Classic Margarita.

It’s officially five o’clock here so we’ll be hosting Makenzie + Kyle’s rehearsal dinner but we hope you guys enjoy a happy hour near you and have a wonderful weekend!

There’s something so satisfying about that first real hint of fall in Alabama. After weeks of 90°+ days, we’re more than ready for highs in the 80s, crisp 50° evenings, and wedding weekends spent outside under the stars.

We’re looking forward to welcoming Makenzie, Kyle and their guests for their rehearsal dinner and wedding weekend at The Sonnet House. Dinner is planned on the patio, we’ll be dancing under the café lights, and surely a little less Alabama heat!
