This past weekend I went to John C Campbell Folk School (my happy place) and took a Raku class. Raku is a firing technique in which you heat your bisqued and glazed piece in a gas kiln, take it out at 1900 degrees, put it in a garbage can with newspaper, create fire and smoke, then hope for the best. For a beginner it is pretty much “you get what you get” and release control. I got some pretty, some interesting and some downright scary looking pieces! It was a wonderful experience and I met some fabulous people. 😍

Usually I wait until they are glazed to post pictures, but these angels and donkeys from the ladies at Cut Ups Hair Salon went over the top. They will go thru a bisque fire next week and then the glazing. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Beautiful!
