I’ve been mentally pairing patterns with Stowe since it arrived, and these are three I keep coming back to. 🧶

There’s already so much going on with the cable texture that I don’t think the pattern needs to do too much. Give it a good silhouette and let the fabric be the interesting part.

The Hive Pullover + Weaver Skirt might be my favorite idea of the bunch. I cannot get a head-to-toe cable knit set out of my head.

Named | Sewing Patterns for the Modern Maker Kajo Sweater & Dress gives you two directions to take it, and I especially like all that drape and volume paired with Stowe’s more substantial 280 GSM weight.

And Seamwork Jones feels like such an easy sweater dress option. Simple shape + lots of texture.

Now I want to know what I’m missing. What pattern would you pair with Stowe?

Plaid is a pattern, not a fabric. 🤎

Plaid so often comes to us as flannel that it’s easy to think of the two as one and the same. But none of the plaids in this week’s release are your typical flannel.

Instead, we found plaid on lightweight shirtings, soft gauzy wovens, crisp ginghams and fabrics with some really lovely texture. Which means there’s a whole lot more you can sew with plaid than the classic flannel shirt.

Think breezy button-ups, ruffled blouses, dresses, matching sets and other pieces where you might not normally think to reach for plaid.

A whole lot of plaid just landed at Surge. 🤎

We really leaned into it with this release: classic checks, bright color, tiny ginghams, oversized plaids and some really great texture.

And there’s more variety here than the stack might suggest. Some are lightweight and soft, some have a little more body, and a few coordinate beautifully if color blocking is your thing. I’m already seeing button-ups, blouses, dresses, matching sets and plenty more.

I was looking through our organic fabrics recently and realized there are a few I don’t talk about nearly enough.
These three immediately came to mind.

Our Organic Cotton H**p & Yak Jersey, Organic Cotton Textured Wovens, and Astoria Organic Cotton Blend Sweater Knit are three very different apparel fabrics, but all have so much potential for everyday garment sewing.
And with fall sewing on the brain, it felt like a good time to give them another look. I added a few ideas for what I’d make with each one in the slides. 👆
