I got into selling my art mainly to meet other artist-y types. The roster at this coming First Saturday Arts Market lets me know I've found my people. I'll be there this Saturday in the Heights from 11am-6pm. Looking forward to seeing you!

I love seeing my babies, all snazzy with cool frames, lovingly hung in their new forever homes! This was a commission for some good friends. Makes me happy.

Hey, if you have a piece of mine hanging in your place, I'd love it if you'd shoot me a picture!

This started as a "blotter" for another watercolor painting I was working on while visiting my gracious cousin Arlene in New Braunfels last weekend. The "blotter" started to look better than what I was working on, so I went with this one too.

Arlene said I should make this into cards, so I did. You can follow the link and get this on cards, phone cases, throw pillows, stickers...

This piece started as one of the options I presented as a candidate for a commission. This piece wasn't chosen. Frankly I thought it was too monotonous as a large piece. But I found it had interesting bits. This series is some of the bits I selected and "enhanced" with some pen work.

Another in the "bonus" blotter series. Started out as a place to clean my brush while painting something else. I started to see something very "Joan Mitchell"-esque in my leavings and decided to go with it. Art heroes like Mitchell give me wings -- their pioneering work gives me "permission" to expand what kinds of fun I can have and put forth my fun as "real art."

When I work I keep an alternative support to catch my excess paint and other byproducts of my process. Then I have a semi-serendipitous first layer for a future work... perhaps.

This is one such work. A bonus so to speak.

I did this work last month, but I like it a lot personally. It's one of my "accidental" pieces that started out as a blotter I used to hold excess paint in the process of creating other works. (I try not to waste paint if I can help it.)

Yikes, I'm not sure why my camera makes this watercolor paper look tan and not white. I'm not a very good photographer. Let me know if you want to see the original work.

But the other colors are pretty true. Started with watercolor then sealed. Added a layer of pastel then sealed again. Then enhanced with iridescent gel ink pens.

Not sure if this is one I care for as much as others, but I do say it makes a pretty cheery throw pillow, shower curtain, towel, or phone case. It's humbling when the merch looks better than the original work, but this may be one of those situations, I dunno.

Another new piece. A result of playing with abstract gel plate printing, enhancing with ink and acrylic pen. I like to lay down a (mostly) serendipitous (read: random) first layer and then "listen" to the piece to guide my enhancements. Gel plate gives some fun textures I can't get with a brush.
