First offical Finnocitta release today. I decided for my first release I was going to share that’s been a special part of my listening practice for well over 10 years. It’s not a banger, it’s not loud, it’s not even rock n’ roll, but it does have layers of leaf blowers, birds, and binaural beats.

I made a video to go along with it, but the song is best suited with closed eyes, headphones, and a little lay on the floor.

There’s something more in the making than what’s been made.

I’ve been working more to be fluid in idea generation and not getting stuck in details. It’s been a process of openness, open to what I can think of, a process of confidence, being sure that what I’m throwing into the mix is worthwhile, and a process of swift ex*****on.

Using the mind just enough to get the good ideas and turn them into a plan, but not letting the mind convolute and bind the process.

On the pursuit there are many moments to stop and reflect. The space surrounding these reflections can be be graceful and calm, they can also be moments where doubt creeps around.

How many times have you seen someone pushing so hard that slowing down seems like an offense?

Learning how to cultivate the drive to push in a healthy way comes from the ease found in the spacious moments. When the space is nurturing and compelling the work coming from it becomes lighter and more free of ego, we are no longer running from the space and what resides there, but using it as a clear backdrop of support.

So go lay in a field or a parking lot until the mind gets board and see what starts talkin’

It’s been just over a month of posting consistently. I had been feeling really stuck in how to get my art to move forward in a more productive way, in a way that’s more engaged in the world. Being more active here seemed like a simple way to just keep the gears turning.

I believe strongly that art isn’t strictly made to be monetized, that it’s a process, a practice to become more of who we are. Medium is irrelevant, honestly the more we identify with the role of “musician” or “photographer” or whatever the more we get into ego affirming and losing who we really are, we hide behind an identity/role/persona.

All this to say that being active on here has been fun and challenging. I feel more clear in what my general aesthetic is, what kind of art I like to make and where my strengths and weakness are. It’s also made me more aware of how affirmations and support from myself and others is absolutely crucial in order to feel confident and fulfilled in sharing. It’s a big empty void out there and getting feedback from all kinds of people has been helpful to not feel like this whole thing is in vain.
