Historic Homestake Opera House The 1914 building was built by Phoebe Hearst and the Homestake Gold Mine, and survived a devastating theater fire in 1984.

NOW hosts 40 presentations, tours, and ARTS/CULTURE events year-round while restoration continues. Historic Homestake Opera House
Built by the Homestake Gold Mine in 1914, this performing arts venue and recreation center on Lead's Main Street was nicknamed "The Jewel of the Black Hills" for its stunning craftsmanship. The building boasted a library, bowling alley, billiards hall, social hall, heated indoor swimming pool, including an exquisite theater that sat 1,000 people. The building survived a devastating fire in 1984 but now features theatre, concerts, educational presentations, private and group tours, and community events all year while the theater makes progress in restoration.

We've made a slight change to the community writing group: this month, we're meeting on Thursday, October 22nd instead of the 21st.

Grab your notebooks and come hang with Naomi for 90 minutes of generative writing and discussion. We'll have time for two writing blocks using optional prompts. Additionally, if you would rather use the provided prompts to draw or illustrate what's on your mind, you are welcome to do so! No experience necessary, but this group is intended for participants aged 18+

Please bring your own notebook and writing materials; we hope you'll join us!
