Last week we had the pleasure to take two students to state solo and ensemble at Crossings Christian.

Both students did extremely well, and performed with valiant effort. I am extremely proud of both of our students that participated.

Luckily enough we received one Superior from Linville and one Good rating from Eboni.

For the life of me I never know why I remember to take pictures when one of my students are already gone.

But congratulations to my choir, our first solo and ensemble together!!! Complete!!!!

If you were to ask these kids if prep for this was hard? I’m ensure they’d have soooooo much to say about the music and their choir director (me) who is wayyyyyy too tough on them…

These little humans go above and beyond of what I ask of them and happily remind me why this is the job for me.

A II, III, and three I’s. Imagine that! These kids are simply amazing.

This is Lawton Highs HONOR choir!!! And if they can put up with me, I’m sure they are going to take state and college for a crazy ride.

This is the fundraiser the kids and I have been working on this month. You can basically sponsor/support our students and program by buying a day for the date number. So if you buy the Fed 21st it will cost you 21 bucks. This is a small but mighty way of fundraising.

This money will be going to a few things like,
Choir shirts
Robe repair/cleaning
Festival and competition fees
Classroom supplies
Sheet Music

And basically anything else that can enhance the experience of these kids.

To participate, find a choir member or find me. Anything goes a long way.

Day two of our OkMEA All-State Trip.

Last night they had college night and now they are rehearsing a bit before doing third round in a few hours.

These kids manage to shake me up every chance they get.

Another reminder that Our Christmas concert is tomorrow at 6:30pm. “A Lamplight Christmas” we will also have a raffle of items donated to us from multiple people and organizations. At the door everyone will get two tickets and donation will be taken to get more.

Today I had the privilege of taking 2 of my students to All-state round 2.

Ryan (Hazel) Hawkins
Makenzy (Shade) Linville

These are two very driven, resilient, and reliable young adults. It was my privilege to sit on that bunch today and watch them both walk out of their auditions with the biggest smiles on their faces and radiant energy of any young adult there.

While being selected for All-state is their goal, seeing them listen, ask questions, and apply the skills and techniques they’re given is their true reward. Work Ethic is what these young Adults cultivated today. Congratulations!!!!

Congrats to “Makenzy (Shade) Linville” on making the All-State treble choir.

Congrats to “Ryan (Hazel) Hawkins” for going the distance with grace and confidence.

Both of these students understand that 1 “NO” isn’t a wall, stop sign, or defeat, but a chance to improve and show the themselves, their peers, and the next competition that Growth and Resilience builds a better person and a better musician.

“That wolverine choir spirit” congrats to all the choir members that put so much work into All-state round one auditions yesterday, myself and many others are impressed by the way you all work towards your goals.

Yesterday was our first “official” choir concert of the year. We were over the moon when Dr. Christian Logan Morren of Cameron University reached out and invited us to perform with the CU choir and the new CU ensemble The Gold Notes. To say the show was amazing would be an understatement. With our new look, new traditions, and new sound, we hope to see everyone at the next one.
