The Comanche Nation’s Chiefs were men of great wisdom and bravery. They guided our ancestors in battles and hunts. They also negotiated for peace treaties that preserved our communities and way of life. We commemorate their legacies every July through our national holiday, Chiefs’ Day. Chiefs’ Day is a time to reflect on the beauty of our Comanche culture and the sacrifices of the people that made it possible for us to continue to have a sovereign nation with a distinct culture.
