John DeMarce
Hi, We'd appreciate it if you'd pass this along:

We're looking for a few good bands for our annual band contest at the DC Bluegrass Festival, coming up in late February. First prize is pretty substantial; $800, a hotel room for the night after the contest, and the opening performance on the second day of the fest. It's a good spot to get in front of a new audience and be heard by DJs and a few record company folks too. All the details are posted at http://www.dcbu.org/ or available by emailing [email protected].

Thanks,
John

Jamming from Wed through Saturday nite was the staple in spite of the rainy weather. You can see the pavilion in the picture above, & with this nice facility the show goes on regardless of weather. Special thanks to Ivan Overstreet from Scruggs Virginia for playing fiddle with the Bluegrass Partners and banjo with Strickland's group. Amy Ladd & Friends were their usual awesome selves, love you guys!. The Slack Family laid down some solid, firey, bluegrass and closed the show Saturday. You guys kicked it a good one, many thanks. We were privileged to have The Grey Eagle Band do a set for us and we hope they will be back. the raffle for Melinda Sargent's donation of a home-made afghan was post-popned until our cookout Saturday October 13th. There will be stew and pit-cooked BBQ and BLUEGRASS free. Y'all come and bring a side dish if you can.
