Natasha Scheuble (Juliet) is elated to be joining the cast of Romeo and Juliet! Natasha, a Lyric Coloratura Soprano from Parsippany, New Jersey and holds a Masters Degree in Operatic Performance from Mannes School of Music where she was a Presidential Scholar and studied under the tutelage of the legendary soprano, Ruth Falcon. Scheuble also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance / Opera Studies from Purchase Conservatory of Music where she studied with soprano, Kaori Sato. Praised for her "warm and vibrant tone”, she can be seen as roles such as Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, among others. Scheuble is very excited to be debuting the role of Juliette with New Jersey Lyric Opera! Upcoming: covering Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute with Undead Arts and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with Amici Opera. She is currently an Artist in Residence with The New Contemporary of Madison NJ.

Samual Keeler is a tenor who has been hailed for his "rich tenor" (Culpepper Times) and "strong vocals and crisp, clear delivery" (DC Theatre Scene). Recent highlights include Tamino in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with Mobile Opera. Additional recent appearances include Liverotto in Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia with Opera Baltimore, Remendado in Carmen with both Maryland Opera and Washington Opera Society, and Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème at the Mediterranean Opera Festival. Other notable roles include Edgardo in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata, Don Ottavio in Mozart's Don Giovanni, and Sam Kaplan in Kurt Weill's Street Scene. As a frequent soloist in the greater Philadelphia region, Keeler also serves as Founder and Executive Director of Liberty City Arts, a nonprofit performing arts initiative dedicated to supporting artists and creating high-quality artistic experiences for the Philadelphia community. This spring, Liberty City Arts presents a co-production of Menotti's The Consul with Prismatic Arts Ensemble, May 20 & 22 at Billy Penn Studios, benefiting immigration service organizations Juntos and The New Sanctuary Movement. He serves on the Board of Bel Canto Boot Camp, whose mission is to break the often prohibitive barriers of distance, cost, and time to train and empower singers and audiences alike.

José Vazquez (Baritone) is excited to be making his debut with NJLO as Lord Capulet! José an opera singer and actor from Miami, FL and currently singing with the Florida Grand and Palm Beach Opera Companies. He has appeared in leading and supporting roles in operas like Die Zauberflöte (Papageno), Dark Sisters (Prophet/Larry King), and Rigoletto (Marullo/Uscire). Most recently, he performed in two operas at the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival with roles in Carmen (Zuniga), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Demetrius). Additionally, he has performed in fully memorized Shakespeare productions with the Shakespeare Troupe of South Florida as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and Edmund in King Lear. José has also appeared in Mostly Baroque’s most recent performances of La Serva Padrona and Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Alyssa Brode is thrilled to be joining her 3rd NJLO production- Alyssa recently portrayed Frasquita in Carmen! Ms. Brode has won over audiences with her interpretations of song, musical theater and operatic repertoire. Recent highlights: “Broadway in Berwyn” at Footlighters Theater; the genre-bending benefit concert “Open Your Mouth” with Alyssa’s own newly-established arts initiative Incantra; and “thirtysomething” with Wilmington Concert Opera, a solo recital of music by composers in their 30s. Passionate about new works, Alyssa joined the world premiere of Girondines (Pierrette) and created the role of Clover in Christman’s A Metamorphosis, for which she was praised for her “endearing charm” and “glittery tones” (OperaWire). Alyssa is also a freelance graphic designer–specializing in print and digital materials for performing arts organizations–and the proud creator of the first-ever collection of “Vocal Rest Apparel,” for sale along with other customizable designs and gifts in her online store “Musicisms.” Though she’s eagerly marked the career milestones of performing during a blackout and performing while eating cupcakes, she still strives to reach her all-time goal of performing while playing with cats.

and stage experience. Currently pursing a B. A. in Musical Performance/Musical Theatre at NJCU. Recent credits include Zombie Opera and The
Hunchback of Notre Dame with NJCU.

Emily Kwak (Ensemble) is excited to be making her NJLO Debut! Emily Kwak is a cellist, soprano and conductor based in Phoenixville PA. In 2024 she founded Iolanthe Opera Company, where she recently conducted The Magic Flute and portrayed the Queen of the Night. An avid Savoyard, she performed in four different productions of Pirates of Penzance last year, portraying Edith with NENAProductions. As a professional cellist, Emily has performed with Cape Ann Symphony and Ocean City Pops. She teaches cello at New Jersey School of Music and K-8 general music at Saint Genevieve's School. Emily is thrilled to be making her debut with NJLO!!

Mezzo-soprano Alicia Melendez is excited in a role debut of Stephano- Ms. Melendez recently appeared as Mallika in NJLO's production of Lakmé. Alicia is a native of Great Falls, VA. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Arts degree from Temple University Recent opera roles include Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel and Cherubino Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro; featured CoOPERAtive at Westminster. In addition to opera, Alicia is a choral musician, soloist, and recitalist. Under the baton of Maestro Martin Knoblauch, she was Alto Soloist for multiple performances of Händel’s Messiah and The Bach Cantatas with the Northeast Oratorio Society. Alicia also performs frequently with her husband, guitarist Vince Bello, ranging from classical and operatic repertoire to jazz and musical theater. A passionate advocate for music education, Alicia has spent the past several years teaching Elementary General Music. She currently teaches General Music and Chorus at Smithville Elementary in Galloway, NJ.

Cruz Roger Romero portrays COUNT PARIS in Romeo and Juliette- Cruz recently appeared in NJLO's productions of Carmen and La Boheme. He has previously performed as Ben in Menotti's The
Telephone, Guglielmo in Mozart's Così fan tutte,
and The Learned Judge in Gilbert and Sullivan's
Trial by Jury. He has performed choral
masterworks, including Beethoven's Ninth
Symphony, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester
Psalms, John Rutter's Requiem, and Haydn's
Lord Nelson Mass; the latter two being at
Carnegie Hall. He is grateful for all the music
educators who have inspired him to continue
performing.

Mr. Allen will be stepping in as the dashing and earnest MERCUTIO in Romeo and Juliet. Please also welcome wonderful tenor Leo Leuci as TYBALT!

Chaka is excited to portray this fun role in this beautiful opera!
Recently seen as Count Luna in Il Trovatore with Lower Merion Symphony, Mr. Allen stepped in last minute as Sharpless in NJLO's Madama Butterfly. Chaka, a versatile baritone, just appeared as Scarpia, a role he performed with NJLO in 2023. Originally from Chicago, Illinios, has enjoyed the grandeur and mystery of opera for over 20 years. Trained in Los Angeles, he has sung Germont, Figaro (Barber of Seville) as well as several other baritone roles. Originally a trumpet player, the sound of opera appeals to him, and he hopes
more people today learn of its beauty and power. Chaka enjoys supporting his colleagues in this wonderful art form.

Leonardo L. Leuci is delighted to be following the footsteps of another "Leo" in a Romeo and Juliet. 🩷 A classical pianist/ vocalist from Wood-Ridge, New Jersey with a wonderful tenor voice- Mr. Leuci recently portrayed the role Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance with the Iolanthe Opera Company and was part of The State Opera of New Jersey' Der Fledermaus's ensemble. Leo began accompanying singers and playing in churches when he was thirteen, and later went on to attend New Jersey City University.. In April of 2018, Leonardo was selected to accompany classical vocalists at Weill Recital Hall in New York City. Leonardo is currently the Director of Choral Music at Ridgefield Park Junior-Senior High School, where he oversees the school’s five vocal ensembles and music directs its annual spring musical.

Shannon is excited to be joining the cast of Romeo and Juliet! Ms. Lally a Philadelphia-based mezzo-soprano from Westminster Choir College in 2021, with Master of Music from Indiana University in 2023, where she studied with Peter Volpe. She later earned a Graduate Certificate in Vocology from IU in 2024. Recent credits include Madame Flora (The Medium, Ramiro in La finta giardiniera, Stefanie Schmid in The Mensch -a world premiere under Lauren Bernofsky); The Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas and Zita in Gianni Schicchi.

Drew Russell DuBoff (Gregorio/Duke)- is thrilled to make his house and role debut with NJLO in Roméo et Juliette! Mr. DuBoff, a lyric baritone from Cherry Hill, NJ, who is praised for his “exquisite legit baritone sound.” Current engagements include covering Dr. Lyman Hall and Dr. Josiah Bartlett in The Walnut Street Theatre’s production of 1776. Up next: Baritone Chorus in L’amant anonyme by Joseph Bologne with New Camerata Opera in New York City. He previously appeared in Opera Philadelphia’s Il viaggio a Reims. He studies voice with lyric tenors Paul Spencer Adkins and Jesús Garcia.
