Art for Less! Bidding is still open for “Washed-Up, Trash Reframed” at the Lawrence Public Library on Wednesday, December 5th - December 21. Student artists from KU Visual Art have spent the semester engaging with Friends of the Kaw, The Land Institute, and Hamm Recycling to gain perspective on how we can affect environmental change as individuals and, more importantly, as a community.

KU BFA Ceramics and Sculpture student Kim McDermet reflects on her experience in “Sculpture and Intercepting the Waste Stream” taught by professor Matt Burke, This class had opened my eyes to the fact that the problem is ENORMOUS beyond comprehension! Looking at plastic pollution facts and details in this class, I realize that I am part of the problem, therefore, I need to be part of the solution. Please join us for the opening reception of “Washed-Up, Trash Reframed” at the Lawrence Public Library on Wednesday, December 5th from 3:00-5:00pm! JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director provides support for the Executive Director of the Kansas City Artists Coalition. Primary responsibilities include day-to-day office/gallery management, publicity of events, member and volunteer recruitment and coordination, work on the annual Art Auction, and work on special projects.
In addition to general office and gallery duties, this person works with artists, contractors and the local community to assist with the mission and goals of the Kansas City Artists Coalition.Tasks will vary; priority and time requirement will be determined at time of assignment. Attends at KCAC board meetings and committee meetings when assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree in studio art, art history, arts administration or non-profit administration.
One year experience in gallery or non-profit organization.
Ability to do the required work for exhibition installations, including climbing ladders, working with tools, crating and uncrating artworks, and moving heavy or fragile objects.
Good communication skills. Must be proficient in verbal and written communication.
Proficiency in basic office skills and computer programs.
Knowledge of Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, I-Contact, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Abila fundraising software preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and achieve targeted objectives.
Ability to both give and take instructions.
Ability to work well with others.
Personal initiative.
PAY, BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE:
This part-time position is available with the Kansas City Artists Coalition located at 201 Wyandotte, Kansas City, MO. Benefits include health insurance and retirement, vacation and sick leave. Work week is Wednesday – Saturday, occasional evenings and Sundays are required.

The Kansas City Artists Coalition (KCAC), an artist-centered, artist-run alternative space, presents a variety of contemporary visual art exhibitions in its Mallin Gallery, Jacqueline B. Charno Gallery, the Underground Gallery and the Snap Space Gallery for artist 18 - 35 years of age. The Artists Coalition provides many programs and services for artists and the community. In our galleries we produce approximately thirty exhibitions annually of work by emerging and mid-career artists. In addition, we sponsor lectures and conduct professional development workshops for visual artists.
Kansas City Artists Coalition is a Warhol Initiative recipient. This project of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts is to strengthen artist-centered organizations.
