I had the honor of hosting a SOLD OUT album release party for Matthew Mulnix. Matthew is one of my very best friends. His honesty, thoughtfulness, and willingness to go on adventures with me makes him one of my favorite people.
Matthew recently released his third album, Sugar Coated Sadness. At the Listening Room, he played selections of the new album, as well as invited friends and students alike to share catalog material.
Matthew Mulnix is an alternative pop/rock musician from Lawrence, KS. Mulnix has released two albums of original “emo for soccer moms” music, including The Truth Exposed in 2013, Relative North in 2017, and will be releasing Sugar Coated Sadness in 2022. His music has been featured in national publications such as Substream Magazine and The Alternative.
Mulnix was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, a juvenile form of Macular Degeneration, at age 9 in 2001. With sheet music reading being cumbersome for a visually impaired student, Matthew elected to pursue public school music education by ear, rather than sight.
Mulnix is founder of Lawrence Songwriter Showcase, Instructor at Lawrence Arts Center, Instructor & Director of Youth Ensembles at Americana Music Academy, Instructor at Guitarma, Consultant & Instructor at JoyWorks Foundation, and bass guitarist for country artist Kyle Austin. Receiving Best of Lawrence 2020 & #3 in 2021 in the category of Private Music Lessons Instructor, Matthew loves teaching students of any skill level.
Please go check out Matthew on your preferred streaming platform and give him a follow on social media to stay up-to-date on Matthew’s schedule.
