Students, Friends, special donors and current/emeritus faculty and staff recently celebrated as 59 students were honored with scholarships and awards, and we are so delighted we thought the whole world should know about it! Please share the good news of our 2023 Awards and Scholarship recipients. The Kilty Kane went to Lawrence native Diego Rivera-Rodriguez for outstanding contributions to the University Theatre and the Kuhlke Humanitarian Award was awarded to Ames, Iowa native Asher Suski for humanitarian service to the Department. This year a new tradition was born recognizing outstanding contributions to the University Dance Company; the inaugural recipient of the Key Collaborator Award was Anna Hastings.
We will welcome in Loren Kennedy Coordinator Connor Maloney, who also was the FROTH Reese Saricks Scholarship recipient. The LK Ambassadors are Coy Garrett, Anna Shelton, Sloane Smith, Jordan Nevels, Jordan Ray, ShonMichael Anderson, Myles Hollie, Allison FitzSimmons, and Hayden Daugherty. Cullen Krishna earned the Elizabeth Sherbon Award, named for the retired professor who established the dance major at KU. Johnny Dinh Phan and Anna Hastings earned the Jump Start Award, which funds dance intensives or training to help jumpstart their careers. A number of graduate students earned honors, including Outstanding GTA Awards. The list goes on! Check out the link!
Thanks to the generous Friends, alums and donors who have made such incredible financial aid possible for our students. In total, this year's scholarships and awards amounted to over $200,000 in support! Dozens of KU Theatre & Dance majors and recent grads received help to defray the cost of tuition and earned awards to help advance their career goals.
