12 trays ready to go! I haven’t used padauk in anything for a while. Figured a little splash of color in the interior of these boxes would go a long way.

Getting the marquetry design to wrap around the mitered corner took a little planning. Losing even 1/8” of material could ruin the effect and any mistakes in cutting the mitered corner or in the glue-up could have been a disaster. Now that I’m at this stage (getting a last few coats of shellac on), I’m breathing a few sighs of relief.

The dogwood box is 3D! Four more to go. There’s still quite a bit to be done with this piece - outfitting the interior...

The dogwood box is 3D! Four more to go. There’s still quite a bit to be done with this piece - outfitting the interior - but the marquetry has survived all of the scary parts of the process 😜

This box wall is cleaning up nicely. Edge banding glued on, surface scraped nice and smooth, and even hit it with a couple of coats of shellac before it gets assembled (to make cleaning up glue squeeze out easier). Looking forward to assembling to 3D.
