Art inspired by nature. Beautiful things made by hand. 🌿

Meet Leaf & Sky at the Great Plains Art, Food & Maker Festival! Their original artwork celebrates native plants and pollinators, bringing color and character to hand-sewn bags, home goods, fashion accessories and sustainable T-shirts. Their art is printed in the U.S. on organic fabrics, and their stationery is printed locally on recycled paper. They even craft bird, bee, bat and butterfly houses in their wood workshop!

Come discover their work and make a day of it—artists, artisans, original handmade makers, food trucks, desserts and baked goods, plus five live music performances and drinks from Fields & Ivy Brewery. Bring your blanket or camping chair, touch grass and enjoy the views overlooking Clinton Lake and the Wakarusa River Valley.

From noon to 8 PM, the stage at Sesquicentennial Point will be alive with huge grooves, funk, rock energy, improvisation, dance rhythms and seriously talented musicians who know how to JAM.

🎸 LegerDemain — steel pan, global grooves and fiery fusion
🥁 DaNoyze — Kansas City funk, hip-hop and high-energy jazz fusion
⚡ The Midland Band — 70s-inspired jam rock, Grateful Dead & Steely Dan influences and fearless improvisation
🎸 Brian Baggett — one guitar creating a whole band’s worth of sound, with rock energy and jazz sophistication
🔥 Rhythm Republic — Afro-Cuban Latin rhythms, funk, rock ’n’ roll groove and dance-floor energy, featuring longtime Peter Frampton bassist Stanley Sheldon

And there’s an entire festival happening around the music — 45+ hand-selected artists, artisans and original makers, food trucks, baked goods, desserts, specialty and frozen drinks, plus beer and alcohol served by Fields & Ivy Brewery — all overlooking Clinton Lake and the Wakarusa River Valley.

🌿 Bring your blanket or camping chair, grab a spot on the grass, settle in and make a day of it.

✨ VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: TWIST OF TASTE ✨

Twist of Taste is bringing Native American Indian tacos, fresh frybread and Nana’s Sweet Bread topped with fruit, powdered sugar, chocolate and more to the Great Plains Art, Food & Maker Festival!

Join us Saturday, September 26, at Sesquicentennial Point Park for artists, artisans, makers, bakers, food trucks, freshly prepared food, desserts, baked goods, specialty drinks and original handmade items of all kinds.

The main stage will be alive from noon to 8 with five incredible performances moving through high-energy jazz fusion, rock-charged improvisation, deep funk and heavy grooves, the adventurous spirit of the Grateful Dead and Steely Dan, virtuosic solo guitar, and explosive Afro-Cuban Latin jazz rhythms—all performed by exceptional professional musicians who know how to solo, jam and keep the energy building throughout the day.

Enjoy it all while taking in the wonderful views of Clinton Lake and the Wakarusa River Valley.

Advance tickets are $10, day-of admission is $12, and kids 15 and younger get in free.

From noon to 8 PM, the Great Plains Festival stage is going to be packed with monster musicianship, rock energy, deep funk, heavy grooves, dance rhythms, fearless improvisation and some seriously accomplished players.

Every act on this lineup brings something different, but they all have one thing in common: these musicians know how to PLAY. They can solo, jam, react to each other in the moment and take the music somewhere you didn’t expect.

🎸 NOON–12:55 — LegerDemain
Steel-pan-led fusion, global grooves, jazz fire and four instrumental monsters creating one huge sound.

🥁 1:55–2:55 — DaNoyze
Kansas City musicians blending hip-hop, funk and modern jazz chops with deep grooves and high-energy fusion.

⚡ 3:55–4:55 — The Midland Band
Grateful Dead and Steely Dan-inspired jam rock with 70s fire, big grooves, fearless improvisation and serious musicianship.

🎸 5:30–6:00 — Brian Baggett
One guitar. A whole jazz band. Rock-guitar energy, jazz sophistication and blazing improvisation from one of Kansas City’s exceptional guitarists.

🔥 7:00–8:00 — Rhythm Republic
Rock ’n’ roll groove collides with Afro-Cuban Latin jazz rhythms, funk, deep pocket and dance-floor energy. Featuring Stanley Sheldon, longtime bassist for Peter Frampton, alongside a lineup of seasoned musicians who know how to lock into a groove, stretch out and let the music breathe.

This is a day of big sound, deep grooves, spontaneous jams and world-class musicianship from noon to 8 PM.

ONE GUITAR. A WHOLE JAZZ BAND. 🎸

Built through decades of performing, recording, composing, arranging and teaching, Brian Baggett’s musical voice reaches far beyond any one stage or style. Many Kansas City jazz fans know him from his long-running presence at the legendary Green Lady Lounge—but this special performance reveals another side of his remarkable musicianship.

With no band behind him, Brian makes one acoustic guitar carry the bass lines, chords, rhythm, melody and improvised solos—all at the same time. Expect sophisticated jazz harmony, deep grooves and the attack, tonal imagination and blazing technique of a guitarist who can genuinely shred.

This is more than a solo guitar performance. It is a one-man jazz ensemble and a live masterclass in what the guitar can do.
