Venus Theatre Company

Venus Theatre Company Venus Theatre is committed to setting flight to the voices of women. The Company is processing the Venus produces immersion theatre. It is a small 30 seat house.

Alley staging. We believe that the power of theatre lies in the intimacy and shared human experience that no other form can do in quite the same way. We've also come to understand that in this virtual world it's become more necessary than ever to create opportunities for actual social contact and diverse experience.

Lily Tomlin famously walked off The Dick Cavett Show after fellow guest Chad Everett made a sexist remark—listing his wife among the animals he “owned” on his farm.

“I have three horses, three dogs… and a wife,” Everett said.
When Cavett questioned the order, Everett doubled down: “She’s the most beautiful animal I own.”

Tomlin stood up, stunned. “You own?” she repeated, before walking across the stage, saying, “I have to leave.”

What followed was pure silence, and some very uncomfortable energy.

Tomlin later reflected, “It was a perfectly pure act… I felt angels walked me off.”

A moment of feminist TV history that still hits.

72 names. Zero women. That’s the legacy engraved on the Eiffel Tower—until now.

Paris is adding the names of 40 women scientists to the iconic landmark—brilliant minds who’ve shaped our world but were written out of the story.

Their names are finally being etched into history—right where they belong.

Back in 2016, Venus Theatre Company staged Jayme Kilburn's, "Garbage Kids".

We were so fortunate to be invited into a day shelter for immersive research. It was led by a loyal audience member of Venus named Jenny Wall. Jenny hardly missed a production on C Street and often brought people with her.

Jenny had been having her own health battles recently and just three weeks ago this Monday I dropped by to visit her and we shared hot chocolate and had a chat. I was able to give her our new books. And she shared lots of things with me. Specifically explaining to me how much she missed Venus in town. It was "hers". Her thing to do. I hadn't thought of it that way before because the overwhelm was, well, overwhelming.

I just found out that Jenny passed away on Saturday.

I'm so grateful to her deeply generous soul. She was the best audience anyone could wish for . She was a friend.

She will be greatly missed.

Free flight, sister.

THANK YOU!!

Woke up to feedback from my previous editor/professor. 😃

Hi Deb,

I’ve reached Part Two of Venus. I love your (often painful) honesty and the sense of energy pulsing through your prose.
