KNOW YOUR YARN · Episode 1: What's It Made Of?

Meet Círculo Bubble Gum: 100% Brazilian cotton, DK weight, worked up two ways: single crochet on one side, stockinette on the other. Same fiber, both crafts, same lesson: cotton drapes, breathes, and has almost no bounce-back. Gorgeous for summer tops, washcloths and baby knits… not your best bet for socks.

Check out the great colors of Circulo Bubble Gum here:

This is just the teaser: July we read labels, August we go deep on fiber, all leading to our Adapt-Your-Yarn workshop.

What's it made of? The fiber decides everything before you even cast on.

Today in the Knitting Corner: Círculo Bubble Gum, 100% cotton. Squish, stretch, drape, and watch the no-spring-back moment that tells you why cotton makes a dreamy summer tee and a sad little sock.

Part of our new Know Your Yarn series.

What's it made of? Before you fall for a pretty skein (guilty ), ask the one question that saves projects: what fiber is this?

Today in the Crochet Corner, it's Círculo Bubble Gum: 100% cotton, and we're squishing, stretching and draping it to see exactly how cotton behaves: lovely drape, breathable… and zero bounce-back.

Kicking off our Know Your Yarn series! Find this yarn at:

It's Worldwide Knit (AND Crochet!) in Public Day : Saturday, June 13th, 2026!

Grab your needles or your hook, find a sunny spot, and let's make stitching in public a little less weird and a lot more fun.

Here's the best part: spend $35 on Círculo yarn that day and you're automatically entered into our Giveaway Raffle!

And if you've never worked with Círculo, oh, you're in for a treat. It's the biggest yarn brand in Brazil and the largest manufacturer in all of Latin America, family-founded back in 1938. The cotton is grown, spun, and dyed right there in Brazil, where crochet is practically a national love language. 💛

But here's what has us really excited: they're not just cotton anymore. Círculo has been innovating with gorgeous luxury blends like Alpaya (alpaca + cotton: soft with the loveliest drape) and Bohemia (merino wool, kid mohair & mulberry silk: yes, really). Brazilian heritage meets next-level fiber.

Same goodbye, two crafts. On the left, a crochet ball cinched shut through the front loops. On the right, a knit crown gathered closed through every live stitch. Two completely different fabrics, one tidy little drawstring finish: and the exact same move that closes a sock toe!

This week's Texture Twins shows you both, side by side. Want to go deeper on the shaping and finishing behind a whole sock? Join us for the FREE Sheeptorials, Thursday June 11: Crochet at 6:30 PM EDT, Knitting at 7:30 PM EDT.

Crochet folks take home TWO free sock patterns (child + adult sizes). Knitters grab a free Fisherman Rib Mitts pattern, that squishy stitch makes a cushy heel flap in your favorite sock. Then in July, we build the whole sock, start to finish, in the workshop.

Not every finish needs Kitchener! Sometimes you just yank it shut, and that's correct.

This week's Knitting Corner is the gather close: thread the tail through every live stitch, pull, and your hat crown closes to a tidy point. (It's the exact same move my crochet twin uses on her amigurumi!)

But a sock toe? That one needs the finish that disappears: Kitchener. We go deep on it, and build a whole sock cuff-down and toe-up, in the July workshop.

Warm up first at my FREE knitting Sheeptorial, Thursday June 11 at 7:30 PM EDT, you'll grab a free Fisherman Rib Mitts pattern, and that squishy stitch makes a cushy heel flap in your favorite sock.

That gaping hole at the top of your amigurumi? We close it like a coin purse.

This week's Crochet Corner is the cinch close: FRONT loops only, pull tight, and that little hole vanishes. And here's the fun part: it's the exact same finish on a crochet sock toe.

Want to go deeper on the shaping and finishing techniques behind a whole sock? Join my FREE crochet Sheeptorial, Thursday June 11 at 6:30 PM EDT — you'll even take home 2 free crochet sock patternS. Then in July we build the whole sock, start to finish, in the workshop.

A flat panel is just the beginning. The curve of a shoulder, the turn of a heel, the taper of a sleeve: that's all shaping, and it's the difference between fabric that hangs and fabric that fits.

On Thursday, June 11th at 7:30 PM EDT, our FREE Knitting Sheeptorial: Shaping Up! digs into the increases, decreases, and turns that give your knitting true dimension, why some sit cleaner than others, and a few favorites along the way (fisherman's rib, anyone?).

All levels welcome, replay included. And yes, this one lays the groundwork for a deeper workshop coming in August. 😉

Ever made something that came out stiff and boxy when you wanted soft and curved? That's not your hook, that's shaping.

On Thursday, June 11th at 6:30 PM EDT, our FREE Crochet Sheeptorial is all about Shaping Up!

How a few well-placed increases and decreases give your crochet real dimension, and how to keep every shaping line smooth (hello, invisible decrease!). We'll talk extended single crochet, building a dome, and shaping with purpose.

All levels welcome, and the replay comes to you afterward. Consider it your warm-up for something bigger we've got cooking in August. 😉

Two crafts. Two ways to reach for more.
This week on Texture Twins: elongated stitches. On the left, knitting: knit one below, reaching into the row below and dropping two loops to build that squishy reversible Fisherman's Rib. On the right, crochet: extended single crochet, one extra pull through for a taller, denser, more structured stitch.

Both crafts taking their most basic stitch and reaching deeper to build something richer. Completely different technique, same instinct.

Catch both videos this week for the full demos, including why Fisherman's Rib is not technically brioche and why ESC will change your row gauge. And both techniques become real projects: a Fisherman's Rib mitt and a crochet sock, as free patterns at my Shaping Sheeptorial on June 11.
