Thunderhand Joe and the Medicine Show
From my Bio My Redbone Daze (c) Thunderhand Joe

Scamattics

As I look back on it now, it seems so funny. I guess sometimes you got to laugh to keep from crying. I was truly a kid, Pat; Lolly & Tony were in there early 30’s now in my early 40’s I can see how young the early 30’s was and how much life the band still had to offer. Pat & Lolly and Tony seemed so much older at that time but were most definitely still in their youth.

I guess they knew they better get on with it because nothing lasts forever. So they did. I myself being of sound Rock & Roll mind and Rock & Roll body went along with it, yes we partied a lot, stayed out all night, did a lot of damage, and if that sounds like one of Glen Fry’s songs I guess he would know.

We would do anything and everything. We did a little of this, and a little of that but mostly a lot of that. We played with reckless abandon and partied the same way. Even though.... it was Lolly I met first a few years earlier. In the early days I befriended Pat it seemed like he and I had a lot in common. In some ways we still do. Pat was always a ladies’ man “He still is.” I had been with the band for a year now and was feeling right at home.

July 1982 while performing at Medleys in Fountain Valley. “As you know Bill Medley is a recurring theme in my life.” Well, anyway it was during that performance I started to remember. I remember how on that fateful night two years earlier I was directed by a force not of this world. It placed me at this very site.
