As a state employee, it’s nice to receive Congressional recognition from Senator Jacky Rosen I think my boss Aaron D. Ford would be happy with me except it’s not work related, it’s art related! Thank you to Alina Lindquist for choosing me as one of the honorable mentions in the “In Between Worlds” show at Clark County Wetlands Park Also a big thanks to the park and Clark County Public Arts for putting the show together. It was so great to be at the reception which was full of art and nature lovers. If you want to see the show, it will be up at Wetlands Park until October 31.

Whenever I hear someone say “ugh, the desert is so brown,” I always think they haven’t really looked. Sunrise at Clark County Wetlands Park is anything but brown.

Very happy to say I’ve had two pieces accepted in Clark County Wetlands Park’s 5th annual juried show. This is my first time being in a juried show so I’m really excited! These particular paintings also mean a lot to me because the show a strong belief of mine that even in a large city we are never separated from nature. The reception will be on August 15th from 5-7 pm at the Wetlands Park Gallery. The show will be up until the end of October. Hope you can make it out to see some great local art and enjoy the beautiful park!

Another beautiful tree in the early morning light at Clark County Wetlands Park Looking forward to cooler morning temps to get back out there. I tap out when it’s already in the 90’s at 6:00 a.m.! For the meantime, I’m working in the studio from reference photos I took in the spring, but I’m getting anxious to get outside!

Early morning light on the water works building Clark County Wetlands Park I love the way the light hits the building and the tower to create sharp shadows in contrast to the soft light on the fields and the mountains. And as out of place as this industrial building may seem in the landscape, the park would not exist without it. The building controls the flow of water into the park and ensures the stability of the wetland habitat. It’s been another rabbit hole of learning for me to understand how this building epitomizes Las Vegas’s relationship with water in the desert.

A different Cottonwood and a different view but still out Clark County Wetlands Park It can feel like you’re so far away from the city out here, especially with all the bird calls that can be heard, but the reality is that the city is right there. It amazes me how nature can thrive even in just a sliver. In this painting though I turned the tables and made the city the sliver.

Adding to my tree painting collection. Another landscape from Clark County Wetlands Park Hard to believe that a lot of Vegas used to look like this. So glad there’s at least a sliver that still does.
