In 1976 Eric Clapton had David Gilmour of Pink Floyd over to listen to a guitar solo he was proud of. David asked him to try to take out half the notes Eric played. Eric laughed and asked why should I do that? David said it would add more emotion to it. So David played it without half the notes. This changed Eric's guitar soloing approach from that point on. Who knew?

These are known along with the 660 and 670 as the most valuable and sought after compressors in the world! The 666 model was Fairchild's answer to the Teletronix LA-2A opto-compressor and is a critical component of Brauer's legendary vocal compression. Brauer used it when mixing vocals for John Mayor, Coldplay, Florence and the Machine and many more! If you can find one they sell in the range of $60,000 USD! Kazrog a producer of amazing audio emulation plugins joined forces to replicate this amazing piece of gear with Grammy winning Audio Engineer Michael Brauer and produced the greatest compressor plugin I have ever heard! The depth, the saturation (when applied properly) is outstanding on just about everything, but especially vocals! I am so glad this was released! I am not affiliated with this product, it is simply an honest review.

Love the behind the scenes stuff! Can't wait!

Social Distortion have just shared a brand-new mini-documentary titled “The Road to Born to KiII.”

The eight-minute film is now available on the band’s official YT channel and offers a behind-the-scenes look at how they pushed the record across the finish line. The mini-doc was directed and filmed by Josh Roossin.

Announcing the release, the band shared the following message:

"Life throws us these things that are shocking, unexpected, sudden, scary, and painful. We have to be strong. We have to be strong for our families. We have to suit up and show up, we have to fight the fight.

A lot of hype going out to the Safari Pedals audio plugin line. I haven't tried them all out, there are 29 of them. But, from what I've heard from the 10 I tried out is that some are extremely good! Rabbit is a tape emulation plugin which sounds amazing! It really brings out the fullness in an individual track or even a mix bus! All of the ones I tried sound good and a little goes a long way with these plugins. However, if you have an extensive plugin collection like I do, I would not replace them all with just the Safari plugins. The Rabbit is on sale for $14 dollars now and is a steal at that price! The Gorilla distortion plugin is also a winner as well. These plugins look funky and their aim is to make things playfull which is unique and a breath of fresh air. Safari pedals do a lot with minimal amount of buttons which is cool too. As I try out more of these I will keep you posted.

For the past twenty years I have been focusing on my company Musicmixpros.com for doing mixing and mastering for artists. I’m still doing that but, I used to play a lot of guitar prior to that. So I am dusting off the Eric Clapton Fender Stratocaster a replica known as “Blackie,” of the original. I am restringing it and trying to shake off tons of rust! When I played in rock bands in the 80’s in the Los Angeles area I played for hours everyday. Sadly those skills are long gone, but I believe with some practice one day I might get somewhat close. I also have a Takamine acoustic and a Les Paul that I will restring and cleanup too! I don’t use an amp or plan to play live, but recording in my studio should be a lot of fun!
