Boyd School of Law's Sports and Entertainment Law Association's (SELA) page! We strive to promote networking and educational opportunities in the sports and entertainment law arena. Additionally, through community service and speaker events, we strive to help the public through the sports and entertainment field. We encourage law student involvement by offering many leadership positions.

We are still looking to fill some leadership positions (see below in the "General Information" section). If you would like to fill one of the open leadership positions or if you do not see a position that interests you, contact the Executive Board and we will find you a leadership role that suits your interests. Membership is for current Boyd law students only. To become a member, you must add our organization on TWEN, fill out the membership form, and return the form along with annual membership dues to SELA.

Another alleged terrible act by a prominent figure in the NFL. Is this story magnified because of its close proximity to the most recent Ray Rice news? One would think Peterson would not be in this situation after the death of his child at the hands of the mother's boyfriend just last year. What should the NFL do in this situation? Is this an opportunity for Roger Goodell to prove himself as an authoritative commissioner? Or will this be the last straw for Goodell in a tumultuous season?

In the wake of the current legal issues facing NFL players Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, Ray McDonald, and Adrian Peterson, Oscar Pistorius seems to have come out relatively unscathed. The term relatively should be construed liberally in this case, as he was found guilty of "culpable homicide", however, it seems his athletic career may be salvageable despite his troubling issues in the court room.

A spokesman for the International Paralympic Committee told the BBC Friday that if Oscar Pistorius wanted to compete in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio, the organization "wouldn't stand in his way."

A young man lost his career in his rookie year, his childhood dream, income, and still suffers physical disabilities 10 years after an on-ice attack by Todd Bertuzzi in an NHL hockey game. Thoughts? Should the NHL be held liable similar to how the Los Angeles Dodgers were held liable in the attack of Bryan Stow?
