On this night, St. Patrick’s 1998 my 18 year old friend Jonathan Lim, was murdered; shot in the back of his head by the coward William porter. Jonathan was alone and unarmed. He was climbing the fire escape of a building we mistakenly thought was unoccupied in the tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. As Jonathan was climbing the rear fire escape a man opened the rear 2nd level door with a handgun and pointed it immediately at Jonathan’s face... Jonathan who had just recently turned 18 and standing at 5-5, weighing maybe 120lbs was far from a intimidating presence. Ironically, It was Jonathan that was terrified by 51 year old, 6-5, 250lb plus William Porter.. infamous in his tenderloin neighborhood for often waving his pistol, and shooting two other people prior. Jonathan, Surprised and fearing for his life raised his arms and confessed that he was only attempting to paint graffiti and not attempting to break in. Jonathan then turned and ran down the staircase to the street below. As Jonathan reached the bottom 2 stories below William Porter opened fire on Jonathan striking him in the back of his head and killing him as he fled. William Porter was questioned by SFPD but was never arrested. No charges against William Porter were filed. @ San Francisco, California
