Almost there! 🛠️ The bench seat is now fully sewn and fitted over the foam. Seeing it take shape after so much work is the best part of the process. There are still some details left for the final finish, but the structure is already looking great. What do you think of the progress so far? 🛋️✨

Hand-stitching is not just about technique; it’s about endurance. In this video, I’m using my wooden sewing awl to secure these seams that require a strength that a conventional machine can’t always handle. The thread is dispensed from inside the handle, and although I wear finger protectors, the tension is constant to ensure a perfect and durable finish. It’s hundreds of stitches, but the result is worth it.

Why does custom tooled leather shrink and pull away from its original place? In this third video of our series on common leather issues and their solutions, we analyze the structural damage caused by dehydration. When high-end leather art is exposed to extreme temperatures without proper conditioning, the internal fibers lose their moisture and contract. This tension is so strong it can actually shear off rivets and mounting points. To save a piece like this, we have to deeply rehydrate the material to recover its elasticity and original dimensions. Maintenance is the only way to preserve the structural integrity of the craft.
