We’re STILL HERE, our season is READY, and our artists have entered the chat. 🎭💅

Meet Laurel Semerdjian (LAUREL • SEMERDJIAN): Our Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri! 🎶

Laurel has built an impressive professional career performing with leading opera companies and orchestras across the country, including Seattle Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Southwest, Florentine Opera, Syracuse Opera, and Tacoma Opera. Her repertoire spans some of opera’s most beloved mezzo-soprano roles, including Carmen, Dorabella, Suzuki, Charlotte, Hänsel, and Orfeo.

She has also appeared on some of the country’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, and was featured at the 2023 TED Conference.

And Las Vegas audiences will have another opportunity to hear Laurel this fall: she will be the mezzo-soprano soloist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic for Handel’s Messiah in November. 👀 👏

But first, she arrives at Opera Las Vegas as Isabella: the brilliant, fearless woman at the center of Rossini’s wildly entertaining comedy. 😎

Today, soprano Nina Mutalifu and baritone Isaac Herrera officially begin their residency with Opera Las Vegas!

Through our partnership with UNLV, these exceptional young artists will spend the season performing in our mainstage productions, appearing with UNLV Opera, participating in community and educational outreach, and helping us share the joy of opera throughout Southern Nevada.

Resident Voices (ResVo) is Opera Las Vegas’ resident artist ensemble, representing OLV through community performances, leading and comprimario roles, chorus opportunities, and our exciting new Resident Voices Recital Series. More than anything, ResVo is a community of artists who love making music together.

Their experience, talent, and passion for the arts will help us continue building a stronger future for opera in Southern Nevada.

🌟 Brooklynn Baca - Company Manager
A music director, pianist, dramaturg, arranger, writer, and arts administrator, Brooklynn brings a wealth of theatrical experience to OLV. As Company Manager, they will oversee production operations while creating and operating our bilingual supertitles to help make opera accessible to all audiences.

🌟 Nicole Harris - Development Associate
A Las Vegas native and UNLV-trained soprano, Nicole combines her background in arts education and performance with a passion for arts administration. She will support Opera Las Vegas’ fundraising, donor engagement, and organizational growth.

🌟 Dr. Jawan Jenkins -
Community & Educational Outreach Coordinator
An acclaimed baritone and Assistant Professor of Voice at UNLV, Dr. Jenkins brings extensive experience in both performance and arts education. Having led educational outreach with Houston Grand Opera and Opera in the Heights, he will help expand OLV’s community programs and inspire the next generation of opera lovers.
