UNLV School of Music The UNLV School of Music provides a professional artistic environment that supports programs of excellence in the education of musicians.

The UNLV School of Music offers an excellent professional and liberal arts education to students pursuing careers in music performance, history and literature, music education, conducting, music theory, Orff Schulwerk, composition, and jazz studies. The school enrolls more than 400 music majors, and attracts students from throughout America and international students from Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Canada. Our students have opportunities for personal and professional growth while building relationships and networks essential for success in the profession through:

UNLV Music alum Travis Leon Williams returns for his second season with the Detroit Opera Resident Artist Program! Bravo!

Travis, who studied with Alfonse Anderson, graduated in '22 with his MM in Vocal performance. He’ll be performing February, 2027 in Indianapolis with the Symphony doing the Verdi Requiem!

Lansing-born tenor Travis Leon Williams returns for his second season with the Detroit Opera Resident Artist Program. In the 2025–26 season, he made his Detroit Opera mainstage debut as Luke in The Handmaid’s Tale, performed in Apartment House 1776 at Cranbrook Art Museum, and covered roles in Down in the Valley and Highway 1, USA. His credits also include Opera Las Vegas, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Opera Grand Rapids, and Vegas City Opera. A graduate of Western Michigan University and UNLV, Williams is also a teaching artist, adjudicator, and member of the Verna D. Holley Project.
