Wilder vs. Ortiz II
Boxing’s longest reigning heavyweight world champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber’’ Wilder will take on his most dangerous challenger to date when he defends his WBC title in a rematch against once-beaten Cuban slugger Luis “King Kong’’ Ortiz in the main event on Saturday, November 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas!
Wilder and Ortiz will renew the rivalry they set in motion when they first engaged in an explosive showdown in Brooklyn that was one of 2018’s best fights. Wilder won that bout by 10th round TKO after Ortiz stunned him and almost had him out in the seventh round. The thrilling match featured plenty of twists and turns to necessitate a rematch.
With a combined 66 knockouts in 74 matches, Wilder vs. Ortiz 2 is a heavyweight duel that guarantees an awesome display of punching power. The first fight last year saw Wilder dropping Ortiz in the fifth round, Ortiz stunning and hurting Wilder in a seventh round that he won 10-8 on all the judges’ cards, and Wilder eventually dropping Ortiz again with a powerful right uppercut that forced the referee to stop the bout in the 10th round.

40-year-old boxing legend Manny Pacquiao defeated Adrien Broner with unanimous decision scores of 116-112, 116-112, and 117-111 in last night’s Showtime PPV bout. Pacquiao dominated his opponent throughout the whole 12 rounds to retain his WBA world welterweight title. Broner was lackluster in his performance only throwing 295 punches against Pacman’s 568 as the Fighting Pride of the Philippines outperformed his opponent with speed, defense and great conditioning. At the end of the match, Pacquiao commented about his age and longevity in the sport, “At the age of 40 I still give my best,” Pacquiao told the crowd. “I wanted to be more aggressive, but my coach told me to not be careless.” He continued, “I don’t believe my career is over. I proved it against Matthysse and I proved it again at the age of 40. Manny Pacquiao’s journey still continues.”

As for a possible Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch, “Tell him to come back to the ring and we will fight,” Pacquiao responded to the question of another face-off with the retired fighter. “I’m willing to fight him again if he’s willing to come back in boxing.”

The first major boxing event of 2019 takes place on Jan. 19 when Manny Pacquiao defends his WBA (regular) welterweight against Adrien Broner from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao, (60-7-2, 39 KOs) boxing's only eight-division world champion, notched his first stoppage win over 8 1/2 years in his last time out in July when he defeated Lucas Matthysse in the seventh round to capture the WBA belt. It had been rumored that Pacquiao would be meeting Floyd Mayweather once again after a social media post of the two legends in Tokyo went viral last in September. Instead, Mayweather took an exhibition bout against Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year's Eve and has vowed to remain retired, so Pacquiao shifted his focus to Broner.
Can Pacquiao continue the momentum from the Matthysse fight and make one more glorious run to his already historic career or does Broner finally come through and win the biggest fight of his career?
