My patch collection story

I’ve been collecting fire patches off and on since about 1986. I have made several good trades, and have also gotten stiffed a number of times as well unfortunately. There were several years in between where I didn’t add to the collecion at all; maybe a patch or two here, and a patch or two there. Oftentimes I have been hindered by my lack of available patches to trade. Anyone in this hobby knows that it can get to be an expensive hobby. Technology has made it easier to expand ones collection. One unfortunate downside to that technology is it has also made it easier for patch scammers (those who don’t follow through with their end of a trade) to easily move from one victim to another, plying their trade in pursuit of money by selling the patches they stole from legitimate collectors.

All in all it is an interesting and rewarding hobby for the most part. There are a lot of unique and colorful patches out there, and some with historical significance. My collection is small in comparison to some collectors out there who have thousands or even tens of thousands in their collection. My intent in creating this page is merely to display what I have, a number of patches which I truly do treasure, and some bring back memories as to how/when I acquired them. Some were given to me by family and friends. But I will be adding photos regulary as I organize them. If you see a patch that I have loaded into the wrong state album, please let me know. I also have a few that are from unknown states or I can’t recall where they’re from. If you know, also please let me know.

If you too are a collector, I hope you enjoy browsing through my collection. And I wish you luck in expanding yours. If your just a casual observer, I hope you too enjoy browsing at my ever growing collection! And thanks for stopping by!
