MPC 2021 WRAP-UP POST: WE DID IT!🙌
After losing social media Monday, then using most of Tuesday to tie up post-event obligations, we’re back…to say THANKS!!!
The way our world works changed dramatically in early 2020 & we’ve all been adjusting since. Personal life, work, family, recreation: everything’s different & we’re learning anew. Live event production has been hit especially hard & is like a fresh, highly dynamic, emerging frontier. The decision-making process around taking part in public activities will never be the same again. So, as we collectively move forward into this new space, it’s only appropriate to acknowledge all those moving with us & who took a chance on us by participating in Min Pin Con 2021: THANK YOU!
The list is far too large to list by name, but to the attendees, artists, producers, performers, prize-donators, group mods, contractors, sponsors and contributors of all forms: THANK YOU!
We are infinitely grateful for the support & look forward to building on this foundation by doing it again next year with some new facets & iterations.
We are a small group, but feel mighty with all your positive feedback. You fuel us!
So many personal stories of how it was a magical & intimate event full of meaningful, memorable moments which would never have had the opportunity to manifest otherwise. A big box of envelopes full of dozens of blind trade bags; speed-trading; collective, in-person storytime events & prizes; games & interactions at the artist level; improv jams from world class musicians…we even had a multi-round, spontaneous Sketchy Mario-fueled dance party that brought introversion to it’s knees for a few moments. There was a couple who married during their Vegas trip to MPC. There was a celebration of 30 years of sobriety (and a lifetime gifted pass to MPC😉). There were attendees traveling in from as far as Rhode Island (on one end of the country) and Washington state (on the other end) with many places in between. There were artists who dropped in for a few moments to simply distribute love & pins to all who cared to share just a moment of time. And most importantly, there was COMMUNITY — the very definition of it!
We are full and whole through being built up by YOU! So to any and everyone who took part, please accept our infinite gratitude.🙏

Hey guys! So with Min Pin Con around the corner I just wanted to let you know, Alex Rodriguez is going to be hosting our fun blind trade event! You bring in a pin (drop price Min 25$) and you turn it in and get a ticket, once all pins are in hand you will get the opportunity to blind pick a bag! You keep what you pull! This will be a really fun and exciting event!

Planning MPC has been a whirlwind undertaking from the moment of its conception almost 1 year ago. We are blessed to have the amazing support of a small mod team here in our Lucid Curations fb group, but overall we are a crew whose numbers can be counted on one hand and whose ambitions couldn’t be contained by an arena. With so many moving parts, the nature of inaugural event production is extremely dynamic behind the scenes & often times volatile. We’ve had to navigate Covid, event crowd flow plans, artist scheduling, family emergencies, venue logistics and government bureaucracy. But we continue to iterate and move forward with the best frame around what we’ve got. Unfortunately we now have to add international travel regulations and child birth to that list things to navigate, as Forever Rising (Sam Brunell's Art) is unable to make it due to UK travel restrictions & The iScreamTruck can’t attend because they’re prepping to have a baby!

Thus, we will lament this year not being able to personally humiliate ourselves in front of Sam & Mitch with poor Brit/English impersonations. And we will congratulate Devin on the joy of a new addition to the family (and thank him for sending some cool iScream giveaways in his place)! And we will also move forward. Just 3 weeks away and we open the doors on our first public gathering of pin, art, music & experience collectors. Cozy, personal, and accessible, yet still larger than Burning Man’s first couple years of attendance, we intend to make MPC 2021 memorable for all who come out. Thanks for the support & we can’t wait to meet you all!!!

FINALLY, let’s cover price point. Short and sweet: The changes outlined in our previous post bring production costs down and we’re passing on the savings. $39.99 + fees & tax is the price of admission (there may even be some further discount codes floating around in artist groups). Plus we’ll make a couple of extremely limited upgrade and add-on options available next week.

- Lounge Access: A private lounge area away from the rest of the event. You’ll find room to sit, relax, plot your next artist interaction, check out your newest pins or trade in private, and have some complimentary light refreshments throughout the day in the air conditioned lounge. One additional Men’s & Woman’s bathroom facilities are also available in the lounge.

- Reserved Booth: Get comfy for the show. Jam bands do jam! If you’d like to be close to the action, but still have a place to relax and set your drink down over the course of this EPIC jam, then a booth in the main room is exactly what you’re looking for to lock in peace of mind for the night.

- Official MPC 2021 Pin: A collaboration between Sketchy Eddie, Connected Minds, Liquid Signature Designs, Warner Pin Studios and Lucid Curations. You get a wonderful mash-up of styles from this amazing group effort to commemorate the first ever Min Pin Con! (Note: Color this pin in the Recolor app & post it for a chance to have your color way chosen & receive a free pin!)

On a final safety note, Las Vegas Covid-19 protocol currently requires masks for all indoor public places & many outdoor locations, vaccinated or not. We’re taking a couple extra steps, too, just to keep everyone safe & comfortable. Additional spacing considerations, sanitizer stations & overall capacity reductions have been put in place to accommodate the safety of our attendees. We will operate at 1/3 capacity for this event. Everyone is encouraged to sanitize frequently and minimize unnecessary contact. Please exercise caution in public, use good personal judgment & respect one another. We want to continue to provide opportunities for people to gather responsibly, but it's a group effort & we appreciate your help in the cause.

NEXT, let’s go over some updates. We’ve got some important ones: Activity revisions, artist line-ups and a new price point.

- The pin-modding workshop activity is being saved for a future edition of Min Pin Con. It’s a time-intensive process that will require a few unique resources to bring to life at scale. So, to respect the full process of modding pins, we’re gonna hold off till next time.

- We’re also waiting till next time to feature Pindill’n (though members of the Pindill’n camp will still be on-site engaging). Production logistics on both sides made it the best decision for everyone, but future collabs are in the works! Also, Vomitart has decided to postpone participation this year for personal reasons. We fully support Jen in the pursuit of well-being for herself & her family, and we eagerly look forward to future collaborations, whatever that future may look like.

- With those structural shifts, we’re going to move from a late-morning start to a mid-afternoon start. We no longer need the earlier time, so this will free up a few hours and make the day time action easier for everyone to access.

HERE WE GO!!!
FIRST, let’s talk tunes: How about a multi-set, fully improvised jam session with members of Aqueous, Dopapod & more…
We’ve got Rob Compa (Dopapod), Evan McFaden (Aqueous) and a couple of friends, under the ringleadership of Uncle Mike Gantzer (Aqueous), for an evening of one-night-only entertainment! These jam masters don’t get far away from the East Coast often & certainly do not tour in this configuration.
And PS, If this jam isn’t enough for you, then hang out and celebrate into the night with energetic Dubstep and Bass sets from a carefully-curated group of friends in the Los Angeles & Las Vegas underground circuits. We’ll introduce you in person and we think you’ll be happy. They keep the West Coast natives moving, so there’s no reason to believe your booties can’t find a groove too!

For many, The Price Is Right was iconic. Whether known as a gameshow shared at the family level, or through Bob Barker's Happy Gilmore role, TPIR a classic. And while we're no Bob Barker, we wanted to make our first production offering something memorable. Whether FS, FT or just to show appreciation, this timestamp pin proves itself fun & versatile, opening the door to let you get creative with how to present your shiny metal art to the community.

This is an in-hand drop (NOT a presale), with pins being packaged up & sent out in the days immediately following the drop. This is our first drop though, so we intend to learn what works best here in this group. We'll drop half of the LE on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 720 EST via PayPal link. We'll drop the other half one week later via dibs post in the group.

We've held a couple back for contests, giveaways and postal mishaps. After all orders are successfully delivered, we will drip any of the remaining LE.

A final note: Shipping is US-only; additional shipping costs for international orders; E.U. & U.K. are excluded from this drop due to new import regulations.

PARITY: the state or condition of being equal, especially regarding status or pay.

Community has nothing to do with status or money. It has EVERYTHING to do with people!

We want to establish an accessibility path that makes it possible for EVERYONE who wants to be at MPC 2021 to be able to get here. We are contemplating a limited offering of some "Parity Tickets" to the community for those who would like to attend, but have financial hardships. These would be granted on a case-by-case basis and guaranteed to be under $25, but exact price TBD.
