Russell Mott is a 77 year old potter living in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He came to pottery late, only some eight years ago, and has had the extraordinary good fortune of apprenticing with Claude Smith III, Steve Hemingway, Dave Porter, and Alex Williams. He usually starts work at 3 to 4 AM and works 10 to 14 hours a day in the studio. Happily, there is no part of the process, from throwing to glazi

ng, which he does not find enjoyable. While he does some pit fire and stoneware pieces, it is traditional raku which he finds most fascinating and rewarding, and it is in that area where most of his energy is spent.

We are BACK!! It’s been a year of many changes both personally and professionally. Russ moved back to the east coast and created a ceramic program at a Summer camp, we sold the farm, and now Russ and his new partner in crime, Joyce Creiger, have opened a gallery shop in the Natick Mall. More details to come, but those of you on the east coast…stop by and see Russ and meet Joyce Creiger. She’s all that and a bag of chips!

Temporarily offering masks! The following are a medium size that fits most teenagers and women, some men and they are ready to go, just let us know if you want ear loops or over the head elastic. $10 for pick up, 10+shipping if we send out. The proceeds go to making masks for essential workers. Others available in child, medium, and extra large. PM for additional fabric designs, but if you need some fast, these are ready to go! They are 2 layers of cotton with a layer of nonwoven interfacing. You may text 575-635-6662 as well as PM. Please reach out if your organization needs donations!
