Super Drum Nerd Rally! Jason Kourkounis (The Delta 72, Mule, Hot Snakes, The Night Marchers), Sebastian Thomson (Trans Am, Baroness, Weird War, Publicist), and Mario Rubalcaba (Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, Earthless, Clikatat Ikatowi, Black Heart Procession), and then there’s little old me and all the dumb bands I have played with over the years. Three of my favorite drummers of all-time in the same room at the same time. I have been lucky enough to tour with all three of them and steal from them as well!

Who is at already and how are things going so far? We’ll be in Memphis soon and can’t wait to catch everybody playing tomorrow. We’ll be on Sunday night so hang around and say hello, and then maybe even slightly move your head in time with the music, and then softy clap out of perfunctory peer obligation — we’ll take whatever you have to give. We’ve had people knit, draw caricatures, airbrush t-shirts, and projectile vomit at the front of the stage over the years, but never all at once. We just want you to do you boo, and we’ll play the best show we absolutely can while you do it. Hope everyone is having a blast up there. Okay, see you soon!

We had such a great experience playing with Angine de Poitrine . They are very nice and benevolent alien creatures and are truly stellar live. It was an honor getting asked to play with them. We joking said we had an intergalactic feud with them and last night was the great space treaty — ya know, the whole interstellar East Coast vs. West Coast paradigm. Absolutely incredible musicians. It was great seeing them side-stage. What a fun night! One for the cosmic memory books for sure! Plus, there were 3 raccoons backstage. It’s hard to top that!

Made From Technetium (a record from your favorite band Man or Astro-Man?) came out 29 years ago today. That’s 1997 for those who are keeping score. Does this mean a deluxe reissue with bonus material and other such things directly from that era will be in the works for the 30th Anniversary next year?

That’s a serious question. We don’t know. Someone please let us know if we’re going to get that together for you. Also, see you in Austin tomorrow!

Your incoming data will be decoded, reformatted, and injected directly into the electronic spectacle. Coco devoted an unreasonable amount of his remaining lifespan to making this improbable machine function. Please don’t leave him transmitting into the vacuum of deep space.

People of Planet (insert your planet here),

It has been incredible to be making noise for the masses once again. Next weekend, we’ll be visiting the fine Earth cities of Chicago and Green Bay. It has been 25 years or more since we played Green Bay, which means we’ll have to give you a show worthy enough to remember for another 25 years. Oh, by the way, does Tommy Bartlett’s Robot World still exist at the Wisconsin Dells? We’d love to play there. Maybe we could do an in-store on the drive between the two cities.

Now, with all that said, we’ve been to Chicago more recently, so technically there is less pressure to create a memory capable of lasting a quarter century. We briefly considered assigning different effort levels to each city based on the date of our last appearance, but the calculations became needlessly complicated. Okay, I just got word. It’s official. We’ve decided to give full effort at both shows.

If you’re coming to one of the shows, or both, let us know ahead of time. Otherwise, we might forget who you are.
