Thoroughly enjoyed "The Importance of Being Earnest" last night at the Black Box Theatre! The audience was greeted with Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" as prelude music, so delightful to this theatre-goer! Peter Herman's set design is elegant and stately, portraying the refined tastes found in and around the wealthy estates of that era. Costumes (Susie Whelpley) were absolutely beautiful with just the slightest touch of whimsy here and there. (I'll let you find the peacock!) I must say that the cast was completely "on," in that the pacing was quick, diction clear, accents were accurate and never faltered, intentional pauses though employed sparingly, were delivered with such professional skill that their use brought the perfect effect. The play seemed to glide by and time passed so quickly! Written by Oscar Wilde and directed by W. Dale Pawley, today is your LAST chance to see this great production! So, call the Black Box Theatre at 575-523-1223 to make reservations.
