Thoroughly enjoyed "The Importance of Being Earnest" last night at the Black Box Theatre! The audience was greeted with Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" as prelude music, so delightful to this theatre-goer! Peter Herman's set design is elegant and stately, portraying the refined tastes found in and around the wealthy estates of that era. Costumes (Susie Whelpley) were absolutely beautiful with just the slightest touch of whimsy here and there. (I'll let you find the peacock!) I must say that the cast was completely "on," in that the pacing was quick, diction clear, accents were accurate and never faltered, intentional pauses though employed sparingly, were delivered with such professional skill that their use brought the perfect effect. The play seemed to glide by and time passed so quickly! Written by Oscar Wilde and directed by W. Dale Pawley, today is your LAST chance to see this great production! So, call the Black Box Theatre at 575-523-1223 to make reservations.

Have been reading a bit from a book of Art Haggerton's called, "Flash Farces." It was written in 1938 and the book is that old, too....a little thin paperback. They are little two- or three-page scene's with a punch line at the end. Sort of like an American Monty Python sketch-type scenario, without British humor, sadly, but very funny nonetheless. These will be great for youth!

Today is one year since Art had to leave us. Above is the cast of Cinderella, one of my very favorite shows Art did. There's Carmen on the far left, me in the blue dress and crown toward the right. Ray Carter dancing with Carmen. And the inset photo, is one of my favorites, as that is one of the pictures in my mind...of him directing.

I would like to invite all of you who read on our page here, to give me your input on what musical productions you would like to see Driftwood produce at the Rio Grande Theatre? We've already got a full slate through May, but it is fun to think about what our second season might offer! Also, I would like to invite anyone who would like to direct, to please mention that right here! Those willing to serve on the board also! Thanks, all!

I apologize for all of the deletions and uploads of changing posters. Everybody and their brother had to ti**le on it before it was approved.... ;->

The cast of "The Bells of Old Mesilla" is hard at work on the beautiful music and the blocking for this historic, southwest operetta! Our wonderful, young (and young at heart) cast is packed with talent and this locally written musical is certain to please the audiences! Last produced in 1954, this play by Ruth Thurman Myra is a project that director, Oscar Perez, has wanted to produce for several years. More photos and information to come!

Very positive review of Nunset Boulevard in the Las Cruces Bulletin today! I'm trying to get the Bulletin to fix the online version of the review, as the text is all garbled and broken. As soon as it is fixed, I'll post a link to it!

We are extending Nunset Boulevard an extra weekend! Fantastic opening weekend for the show! If you haven't already, get your tickets for our outrageous musical. You simply must hear hear our 7-piece band: piano, keyboard, upright bass, electric bass, violin, drums, xylophone and bells! What a treat to be performing with them; especially since five of them are teens! Very talented. See you at the show!

Tonight there will be a gala after the show...Food from Miguel's Restaurant and a cake! See you there!!
