Freshwater pearls are formed inside freshwater mussels, where layers of nacre slowly build around an irritant over time. Many freshwater pearls used in jewelry today are cultivated in freshwater environments, particularly in China, where freshwater pearl farming has become a major part of the industry.

Arte de Ybarvo was inspired by my father, David Ibarbo—a man whose legacy was built on helping people turn their lives around.

He taught people to dig deep, face what was hurting them, and find the strength to heal from drug and alcohol addiction. He didn’t just tell people to change—he showed them that a better life was possible.

Today, his legacy continues through me and through Arte de Ybarvo. Every piece I create carries a little piece of the family name, the strength, and the purpose he left behind.

He may be gone, but his work continues through us.

🕊️ A Memorial Rosary for Joey Ybarvo 🕊️

Some pieces of art are made with your hands. Others are made with your heart, your memories, and your love.

This memorial rosary was handcrafted by Arte de Ybarvo in honor of my cousin, Joey Ybarvo, and created especially for his mother. 🤍

Joey was deeply loved and was the kind of person who could be a friend to all. He was a loving father, a good-hearted soul, and someone whose presence left a lasting mark on the people blessed enough to know him.

Joey was also a supporter of my art. That makes creating this rosary especially meaningful to me. Every bead, every link, and every detail carries a little piece of my love and remembrance for him.

I create for my family. I create so that the people I love can look at my work and feel proud. And I create with the hope that those who came before us—and those we have lost—would be proud of what I continue to build.

Joey, this one is for you.
Your life mattered. Your love mattered. Your friendship mattered. Your legacy lives on through the people who love you and the memories you left behind.

May this rosary serve as a lasting tribute to a man who was loved deeply, remembered honorably, and never forgotten.

Every link of Joey’s rosary was handcrafted, one by one, using genuine labradorite gemstones and silver-toned components.

Labradorite is a naturally gray stone that can appear quiet and understated—until the light reaches it. Then, flashes of vivid blue suddenly come through the surface. This natural phenomenon is called labradorescence.

I chose labradorite especially because of that blue. Blue was Joey’s favorite color. In a way, the stone carries that detail of him within the rosary: gray at first glance, but revealing a beautiful blue when the light hits it—something special waiting to be seen.

At the center is Joey’s photograph, making this more than a rosary—it is a personal piece created to keep his memory close.

The rosary also carries a custom Arte de Ybarvo logo tag—a small but meaningful detail because Joey was an Ybarvo. His name and family are part of the story behind Arte de Ybarvo, making this piece especially personal to me and to our family.
