Dear Singers,

My name is Paul Hallsted and I would like to welcome you to the 2022 season of the Las Cruces Youth Choir. I am the new director of the choir and am very excited to make music with you. Our wonderful accompanist, Jeonai Batista will return to play and collaborate with us.

I would like to invite any young musician who loves singing to join us. If you love music, love singing, and are committed to doing your best, this choir is for you. When like minded people who are invested in doing their very best, work together, artistry through music happens. Our goal is to enhance and enrich the lives of young singers through quality choral musical experiences.

Please join us for our first rehearsal on Monday, September 19 th from 5:30-7:30, at Alma d’Arte Charter High School.

LAS CRUCES - NEW MEXICO

Music Beyond Borders 2022

The NMSU Philharmonic Orchestra and the Filarmónica Joven de Ciudad Juárez/OSEA Revolución UACJ merge to offer the second edition of this great concert entitled Music Beyond Borders – Música más allá de las Fronteras.

This initiative has been led by the Mexican consulate in El Paso, Tx, Maestro Simón Gollo of New Mexico State University, Maestro Jove García of Filarmónica Joven de Ciudad Juárez/OSEA Revolución UACJ, and the La Asociación de Amigos de la Orquesta Sinfónica Esperanza Azteca A.C.

This event aims to strengthen the cultural relationship between both countries and the academic exchange between one of the most important universities in the state, NMSU, and one of the most relevant social-musical projects in Mexico.

Over 100 participating musicians will make up the orchestra under the able direction of Maestro Simón Gollo and Maestro Jove García. The repertoire presented is the following:

Emperor Waltz, Op. 437, Johann Strauss (1825 - 1899)
Hungarian Dance N. 1, Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897)
Danza Española N. 1, La Vida Breve, Manuel de Falla (1876 - 1946)
Hoe Down from Rodeo, Aaron Copland (1900 - 1990)
Danzón N. 4, Arturo Márquez (b. 1950)
Colombia Tierra Querida, Lucho Bermúdez (1912 - 1994)
Popurrí, José Pérez Prado (1916 - 1989)

Music Beyond Borders – Música más allá de las Fronteras is an event that highlights the importance of seeing life and music beyond any border and encourages artistic exchange in our region, USA and Mexico. All Donations will be directed to scholarships for future NMSU music students, as well as purchasing instruments for the Filarmónica Joven de Ciudad Juárez/OSEA Revolución UACJ program, among other needs.

I am excited to share with you all that I have been appointed as the new Artistic Director of the renowned Snow Pond Summer Music Festival that has been offering a unique program which emphasizes a balance of musical gains and personal and social growth for 80+ years in a magical 40-acre lakeside campus in Sidney, Maine.

I will be in residence at Snow Pond for the summer season, and will also act in a consulting role to the year-round performance events and community arts programs.

Simon Gollo

NEMC is thrilled to welcome Simón Gollo as the new Artistic Director of the Snow Pond Summer Music Festival. In his role as artistic director, Mr. Gollo will work with the various program leaders to further develop the brand and vision of our many summer programs, including NEMC Core, NEMC Intensives, and Prelude Strings.

He will be in residence at Snow Pond for the summer season, and will also act in a consulting role to the year-round performance events and community arts programs.
