We are seeking experienced Character Performers and Handlers for two exciting live event opportunities in the Chicago area!

📍 July 2 – Navy Pier Screening
Chicago, Illinois
⏰ Performer & Handler Hours: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

📍 July 5 – Chicagoland NASCAR Race
Joliet, Illinois
⏰ Performer & Handler Hours: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM

Character Performer Responsibilities

✨ Embody a character in costume
✨ Interact with guests and fans
✨ Pose for photos and create memorable experiences
✨ Maintain character presence throughout the event
✨ Assist with crowd engagement and promotional activities

Handler Responsibilities

✨ Assist and es**rt the character performer throughout the event
✨ Help manage guest interactions and photo opportunities
✨ Maintain the appearance and integrity of the costume
✨ Assist with costume dressing, adjustments, and quick fixes as needed
✨ Be responsible for the care, handling, transportation, and security of costume pieces while on-site
✨ Support performer safety, hydration, and overall event readiness
✨ Assist event staff with crowd flow and guest experience

🎯 Requirements
✅ Previous character performance experience is required for performer applicants
✅ Previous mascot, costume character, theme park, live entertainment, promotional event, or similar experience is preferred
✅ Professional, dependable, and guest-service oriented
✅ Ability to remain energetic and engaging throughout the event

Full Stop Costume Studio is looking for an experienced Pattern/Draper to join our team creating high-quality costumes and character builds for live entertainment, themed experiences, and productions.

This role includes draping, patterning, fabrication, cutting, fittings, and collaborating with designers and production teams to bring original concepts to life. The ideal candidate has strong experience in theatrical or themed entertainment costume construction, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in fast-paced production environments.

✨ Qualifications Include:
• Experience in costume draping, patterning, and fabrication
• Strong knowledge of costume construction techniques and materials
• Proficiency with industrial sewing machines and hand sewing
• Experience with foam fabrication, Adobe Illustrator, and 3D patterning software is a plus
• Strong organizational and communication skills

💼 Full-Time | $25/hour

We are looking for:
• Height between 5’9” and 6’
• Slim, athletic build
• Strong movement and character performance skills
• High energy, confidence, and major swagger
• Dance ability is a huge plus

This role is for a classic meet-and-greet style appearance with a well-known character. Think: cool, charismatic, quick-witted energy… very Ryan Reynolds-style charm with a “nicer Deadpool” vibe.

After studying at the Academy of Art and Design, Wen continued building a career rooted in both creativity and technical skill. Following a move to the United States, Wen worked with a variety of companies designing and constructing technical dancewear and equestrian costumes, combining functionality with striking design.

For the past ten years, Wen has specialized in high-end bridal couture, helping brides bring their dream gowns to life through artistry and incredible attention to detail.
