Our painter is working through the final details of Circe Invidiosa, after John William Waterhouse, before she is packed and sent to the customer who ordered her.
In the original from 1892, Waterhouse painted Circe in a moment of jealousy, pouring a poison of glowing green into the sea to transform her rival Scylla. That green is what our painter is building now, layer by layer, in the stream falling from the bowl, the dark pattern of her robe and the water swirling at her feet, while the warm brown background will be refined last, once every detail of the figure is right.
This is how every piece leaves our studio, painted by hand for a single wall and only sent once it is ready. If there is a painting you have been waiting to bring home, tell us your wall and we will size it for you.
