What a cool project! I think that sometimes we get too caught up in the bones, the reconstructions, and the science to remember that everything we know about dinosaurs came from work done by people. Those people have stories, and some of them are fascinating! My friend Sean Kotz is working on a project to tell those stories, and illuminate how the human element has shaped the field of paleontology that we know today.

Check out the first video in his series in the link below. Sean, et al. tell the story of two men in conflict, and how their egos and animosity first elevated the discovery of the first known predatory dinosaur in the U.S., and then condemned it to obscurity. I hope you enjoy it (I did!), and please consider helping to support upcoming productions. Every little bit helps!

Congratulations to Jan Harrison from RaderStudios! Beautiful work, my friend!

John Naja talked me into sculpting this piece, and so, it is only fitting that his buildup should be the first that the world gets to see. Enjoy the photos, and many thanks to John for sharing the fruits of his labor with us!

This is a muscle study that I did of a Canis latrans (coyote) skull for a course project in the Mammalogy lab that I took (and later taught) at the University of Wyoming.
