Downtown Lapeer's "Chocolate Walk" will be here this Saturday, February 7, 2026 and the Center for the Arts is excited to participate in all of the sweet fun! We will be offering mini chocolate treat bags, stuffed with all of your favorite goodies including a delicious Lindor truffle, a bite-size Dubai chocolate and a Ghiradelli square. We have a limited number so the first 50 lucky people to stop by will get to claim their bag. See you there!

Both an engaging indoor activity for the cold months and a unique twist on an everyday love note, this simple paper craft is a great way for the kids to polish up their coordination and engineering skills while having a ton of fun along the way. There’s nothing better than a homemade gift for a loved one so stop by Gallery 194 and check out our Art Pantry to pick up this cute craft as well as to explore the many other imaginative crafts that we have to offer. Each craft kit is free of charge and comes with all of the necessary materials, including a set of step-by-step instructions with pictures for some easy-to-follow entertainment. From seasonally-themed crafts to sweet little critter creations, we have a large selection to choose from so grab your favorites and get ready for some great at-home fun.

Calling all creative kids! The PIX Theatre is excited to add a new, permanent art installation to our walls, featuring the art of the kids in our own community. Up to 24 children will receive a set of 4 geometric paper tiles and we ask that you fully color each tile in your own, unique style. Keep it colorful and let your imagination run wild! Upon returning your tiles, we will piece together the kids’ colored artwork into a large, abstract mosaic on one of The PIX Theatre’s walls for all of our visitors to enjoy for years to come.
This is a great opportunity to get the kids involved in Lapeer’s artistic community so if you’ve got children in your life that like to get crafty, indulge their creativity and drop by Gallery 194 to pick up a set of tiles for this fun and easy project.
Materials will be available for pickup on February 10, 2026 and must be returned by February 24, 2026. 24 sets of supplies will be given out - first come, first serve. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Calling all plant-lovers! If you find yourself missing the green this Winter, why not indulge in one of our cacti-themed creative workshops? Whether you enjoy working in the 2D or the 3D, we've got you covered.
On Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00pm, artist and instructor Gabriela Orza will host her Cacti Scene Acrylic Painting class. Students will follow along with a guided tutorial and learn a variety of tips, tricks and techniques in the art of acrylic painting in order to recreate your own version of this vibrant cacti landscape. Bold, bright and beautiful, this workshop is a sure way to add a little bit of green back into your life.
Alternately, on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 12:00pm, our Cacti Earrings with Fimo clay class will take place, hosted by ceramic artist and instructor Sarah Opperman. Great for all ages, this exciting opportunity will allow students to choose from a variety of provided fimo clay in different colors and then learn to design and assemble them into a pair of cacti-themed earrings of your own design. You'll bring Spring back into your life early this year!
No matter which workshop sparks your interest, there's sure to be plenty of fun for everyone so go green and grab your spot in a class for some cacti-themed creativity!
