"One More Life” is in memory of Craig. ❤️

If you've ever wondered why I hit this music thing so damn hard, this is a big part of the reason.

I've struggled with addiction in my own past, and I know what that darkness looks like from the inside. But losing Craig to addiction hit me in a place I wasn't prepared for. It damn near sent me over the edge.

Instead of letting that pain swallow me, I started putting more and more of it into music. Into words. Into songs. Into something that might reach somebody else before another family has to feel this kind of loss.

I know a lot of you have lost somebody you love to addiction, and unfortunately, you'll probably understand this song more than I wish you did.

So this one's for Craig. And it's for every person we've lost, every family still carrying that empty chair, and every person who's still fighting today.

I hope you like “One More Life.”

Fair warning though… this one might bring a tear to your eye.

And if it reaches one more life, then Craig's memory helped do something good today. ❤️

I know I’m my own worst critic, but today I learned a few things about this whole “learning to sing in front of people” journey. 🤣
Lesson #1: Probably don’t sing until 2:30 in the damn morning before you’re supposed to go sing at an event. 😂
Yeah… apparently showing up with a voice you already wore out isn’t exactly a professional strategy.
I let my anxiety get the best of me. I was so damn nervous that instead of resting my voice, I kept practicing. Looking back, I probably should’ve stopped singing Tuesday. Instead, my brain kept saying, “One more time… one more song… one more run through.”
Next thing I know, it’s 2:30 in the morning and I’ve basically practiced myself hoarse.
That’s the part about anxiety I wish I could control better. I write about it in my songs. I talk about it openly. I understand what it is.
But when that s**t really hits, sometimes all the logic, words and positive thinking in the world don’t shut it off.
So I showed up nervous as hell, voice already hoarse, knowing before I even grabbed the microphone that I had screwed myself a little.
And then the fear hit.
I didn’t feel the music the way I do when nobody is around. When I’m alone, I disappear into these songs. Today part of my brain was singing while the other part was screaming, “HOLY S**T, PEOPLE ARE WATCHING YOU.” 🤣
And I was SHAKING.
For anybody old enough to remember Don Knotts trying to pull his gun out of his holster… that was me with the microphone. 😂 I kid you not, that damn thing was shaking in my hand.
But here’s the part my inner critic needs to remember:
I SANG ANYWAY.
Was it anywhere near what I know I’m capable of?
Nope.
Was my voice at its best?
Hell no.
Did anxiety kick my ass?
Pretty good. 😂
But it didn’t make me run.
And maybe that’s what today was really supposed to teach me.
I can either face the things that scare the hell out of me, or I can run from them.
Recovery taught me a long time ago what happens when I run.
So I guess I’ll keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep getting uncomfortable. Keep grabbing that shaking microphone.
Because maybe courage isn’t walking up there without fear.
Maybe courage is shaking like Don Knotts and singing the damn song anyway. 🤘🎤 Here's an old photo thanks Faith Emporium llc for having me

I'm nervous as a w***e in church as my dad would say .. 🤣
Doing recovery picnics and just informally singing on and off seems to be a whole lot easier on my noggin
I’ve practiced to the point that I’m officially done talking until tomorrow. 😂 Gotta save whatever voice I’ve got left.
As crazy as this whole journey has been—from writing songs, to putting my story into music, to actually getting behind a microphone and singing the damn things in front of people
Most of you have watched this craziness unfold and supported me every step of the way.
So… wish this nervous old bastard some luck tomorrow. 🤘🎤
Time to find out if all that practicing pays off.
RECOVERY OUT LOUD. — Rollin Roy

A lot of my posts talk about the struggles.

My addiction. My past. The s**t that goes on inside my head that I still have a hard time admitting sometimes… even when it’s probably blatantly obvious. 😂

And I write and sing about that stuff because it’s real. It’s part of my story.

But I don’t ever want people to think recovery is ONLY about fighting demons, fixing what’s broken, and surviving another hard day.

Because there is SO MUCH GOOD in recovery too.

There are moments when I look around at the people who have come into my life, the places this crazy journey has taken me, and the things I get to experience today… and I’m just fu***ng grateful.

So watch this video.

Tell me it doesn’t put a s**t-eating grin on your face.

Because watching it, there’s really only one thing going through my head…

WOW. How the hell did I get this fu***ng lucky?

This is recovery too.

And THIS is the s**t worth staying around for. ❤️

RECOVERY OUT LOUD. 🤘

They might call me crazy... but they'll never call me lazy. 😆
It's taken me way longer than I thought it would, but I can only do it one step at a time. 🤣
Some days all I can manage is a little. But I've learned that's enough. Whether it's recovery, your goals, your health, or just life in general, if you keep showing up and do a little every single day, those little steps add up.
One day you'll look back and realize you didn't just make progress... you changed your life.
