Room 150
AP Studio Art has been offered at Everett High School, Lansing since Fall 2018. It is a year-long-class, held in room 150 with Ms. Schu and has been growing in popularity ever since. Many consider this a capstone for their journey as a visual artist growing up in the Lansing School District.
The class begins with a self-driven summer assignment, prior to the school year even starting. The first semester consists of fast-paced exercises that reintroduce students to the importance of homework-sketchbooks, in-class critiques, and a variety of making materials, both 2D and 3D. The second semester consists of a student-selected sustained investigation based on one topic and either drawing, 2D art, or 3D art. Students will leave this class with at least 20 strong portfolio-ready artworks, potentially 3 college credits, and a new appreciation of creating a body of work.
Students may apply for this class if they are an upperclassman at Everett High School and by visiting their school counselor and/or Ms. Schu. You will need to complete the summer homework and have had previous visual art classes with either Ms. Schu or Mrs. Collins.
