We don't cry we fight

My art often incorporates a fantasy element as a means of escape, but this time, the events unfolding in America have inevitably influenced my work. The subject is a dark elf, a symbol of chaos, chosen to represent how I believe we must confront current challenges. As a proud Hispanic woman, recent events have deeply affected me. My father's family came from Mexico, working tirelessly in the fields, and like many hard-working Americans, they endured hardship and injustice. This inspired my choice of the macuahuitl, a weapon designed not to kill, but to disable and capture. Her attire is modeled after the Mexican Revolution era, and though the dress is unfinished, it will feature calaveras and vines. The blood-red sky symbolizes the pain we are experiencing, inspired by an image of the rising sun sent by a family member.

"Equilibrist"

The Equilibrist is a surreal, poetic look at stillness and introspection.
The painting uses dreamlike, surreal elements to explore self-awareness. By placing its figures in an intentionally rigid, geometrical space, it encourages the viewer to see balance not just as a physical act but as a symbol for the way we constantly negotiate our sense of identity and perception.
The background serves a stylized stage for the central figure. The long braid, falling toward the ground, forms a gentle connection between body, space, and gravity, suggesting a world where familiar forces shift and multiple interpretations become possible.
Together, these elements create an image that feels both contemplative and open, encouraging the viewer to linger and explore its layered meanings.

"Carpe Diem"
This painting reflects on the fragile nature of the present ? the fleetingness of every moment that slips away as soon as it is felt. Carpe diem here is not a call to hedonism, but a quiet meditation on awareness: the difficulty of truly grasping a single instant of life before it vanishes. The butterflies become symbols of time?s delicate motion, impossible to capture, while the lily embodies purity, transience, and the silent beauty of what cannot last. The work speaks of stillness within movement ? of how we reach for meaning in moments already dissolving.

The purpose of this work is to explore the profound and intricate vulnerability of human consciousness, examining its deep interconnection with the ever-changing and impermanent essence of nature. It seeks to explore how the fragility of our awareness mirrors the transitory beauty of the natural world, inviting reflection on the dynamic interplay between inner states and external transformations.

We must embrace the recognition of our vulnerability in a way that allows us to accept the natural changes in our mind-body and the mind-bodies around us, acknowledging these transformations as deeply beautiful processes.

Instincts such as rigid thinking, resistance to change, and a focus on superficial appearances may prevent us from realizing the true self. In contrast, cultivating qualities like mindfulness, openness to adjustment, and appreciation for the temporary nature of life can support our pursuit of peace and harmony.
Ultimately, we are all flesh-flowers rooted in the constantly shifting soil of existence, individual threads of a great tapestry.
