Thanks For The Memories Grand Lake!
In 2004, when I was embarking on my second ill-fated attempt at retirement, I had sold our publication, then known as the Chronicle of Grand Lake and before that the Grand River Chronicle. Today the masthead shouts out the name Grand Times on Grand Lake, but many of you still simply refer to it as The Chronicle. That last column in July of 2004 ask the question, “Is that the Fat Lady Singing?” She was singing then and now we’re hearing the 2020 version. So here we go again, embarking on our third attempt at retirement so it only seemed appropriate to use a different title to reflect how fortunate and well treated I have been by this grandest of Ladies. The Final Edition Of A Grand Lake Publishing Tradition
Grand Times Publisher Announces Plans to discontinue Publication
Originally known as the Grand River Chronicle, then the Chronicle of Grand Lake and in recent years as Grand Times on Grand Lake is announcing plans for this edition to be the final chapter in a somewhat miraculous story of a recreational based publication. The first edition rolled off the presses on March 17th, 1988, produced by an unlikely foursome, Art & Oleta Corley and Lynda & Rusty Fleming, with no experience in the publishing business. The Flemings purchased the Corley interest in the publication in 1989. The endeavor was embraced by Grand Lake and celebrated 32 consecutive years of publication this past Saint Paddy's Day.
