Celebrate the creative impact of 25 years of artist residencies with Lanesboro Arts at GATHER on September 12th.

Join us at the Lanesboro Arts Gallery from 1-3 pm on Saturday, August 29th for a movement performance and artist talk with Julia Meles!

Julia is a Minneapolis based sculpture, curatorm and performer who focuses on bringing attention to awareness of the body through performance art. Their improvisational performance, "How to Sit on a Chair" explores how bodies can interact differently with mundane objects in everyday life. This performance will be followed by an artist talk with Julia, facilitated by Gallery Manager, Maggie Schwarz.

Lanesboro Arts is thrilled to announce that the Foot-Notes will be playing GATHER: A Lanesboro Arts Fundraiser & Celebration of 25 Years of Artist Residencies! The Decorah-based band will bring the evening to a close with their signature high-spirited Norwegian-American dance music.

Join us in celebrating on September 12th at Blossom Hill Orchard from 5 - 8 pm to enjoy The Foot-Notes, stories from twenty-five years of artist residencies, creative activities, and delicious local food! Tickets are available at https://lanesboroarts.org/calendar/gather/

Artist-in-residence Laura Korynta has been weaving her way through Lanesboro this month! Join her from 2 - 5 pm this Saturday at to hike and harvest local materials for basketry. Learn how to sustainably source local plants, which will be used for a Vessel Making Workshop in Sylvan Park on Sunday! From 1 - 4 pm, Laura will lead a meditative afternoon of weaving and conversation. Participants are encouraged to bring garden shears to both events.

PS: Anyone have stalks of Rhubarb to spare? Laura is looking for some to make cordage for a Rhubarb Basket!

We are so excited to GATHER with you next month! On September 12th, join Lanesboro Arts at Blossom Hill Orchard from 5 - 8 pm to celebrate 25 years of our Artist Residency Program.

Join Artist-in-Residence Laura Korynta at the Lanesboro Farmer's Market this Saturday August 15th (9 am - 12 pm) to learn one of the basic skills of basketry: how to make cordage! Cordage is the art of making rope, which folks may then use to make a friendship bracelet or contribute to a community basket.

While you're at the market, be sure to stop into the Lanesboro Public Library and check out a basket from the lending library!
