Community Suggestions Sought for Residual Β½ Percent Economic Development Funds

Help us help you: The City of Lander seeks community suggestions for the use of approximately $1 million in remaining funds collected through the Β½ Percent Economic Development Tax approved by voters in 2020.

Community members are encouraged to submit ideas for projects or uses that stimulate economic development. The ballot language stated: Economic Development shall be defined as any project that retains or increased (sic) employment, and/or results in a net gain of money into the community.

Suggestion forms are available at City Hall or https://www.landerwy.gov/community/page/community-suggestions-sought-residual-12-percent-economic-development-funds. Completed forms may be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at City Hall, 240 Lincoln Street.

The use of a form helps ensure that all Council members hear your ideas. Suggestions are welcome in other forms: phone calls, emails, and during public comment in Council meetings.

Please submit suggestions by September 17, 2026, at 10 AM for inclusion in the Council packet. Suggestions can be submitted after that, and will be distributed to Council members at the September 22 meeting for consideration during the work session. Voting on allocation of funds is currently on the October 13th meeting agenda.

Thank you for sharing your ideas and helping the City of Lander gather community input on the use of these remaining funds.

9/11 Ceremony and Recognition to Mark 25th Anniversary
Full Press Release: https://www.landerwy.gov/community/page/911-ceremony-and-recognition-mark-25th-anniversary

Please join the City of Lander and Fremont County on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 9 AM at the Lander Volunteer Fire Department for a 9/11 Ceremony and Recognition.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The ceremony will provide an opportunity for our community to come together to remember and honor the innocent lives lost, recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders and others who answered the call to help, and reflect on the resilience and unity demonstrated in the days and months that followed.

We invite community members to join us as we remember those who lost their lives, honor those who served and sacrificed, and recognize the lasting significance of September 11.

Event organized by American Legion Post #33 and VFW Post #954.
