Without the crew, actors would be naked, unheard, and in the dark! Come and learn how lighting designers and light crew "Paint with Light" to add color, mood, and focus to the stage.

This introductory workshop, led by Shelly Riggs, will teach the basics of stage lighting through a hands-on approach. Participants will learn:

Different types of theatre lighting instruments

Dimmers and control systems (light board)

How to circuit a lighting system with DMX and power cables

How to safely hang and focus a lighting instrument

The basics of color theory

How to program a basic light cue

At the end of the workshop, participants will have an overview of how theatrical lighting works, how the jobs of lighting designer, electrician, and light board operator work in a theatrical setting, and have the confidence to volunteer to be on the Lighting Crew for a show!

Signing up lets us know who to expect and puts you on our email list for a reminder. If you think you cannot make it --but then suddenly you can - please come! And if you sign up and cannot make it, just send us a message or email letting us know.

This show is PERFECT for actors with limited availability. Because each scene rehearses separately, there is a great deal of flexibility in scheduling rehearsals. This production will have the unique collaboration of four directors, as well as two directing mentors. Actors may be cast in more than one role, as the scenes are episodic in nature, and the show can be performed with as few as 4 actors, or as many as 19.

Auditions will consist of reading scenes from the script. No need to memorize anything, but it would be helpful if you were familiar with the scenes. Check out this folder for all the information about auditioning.
